Description
I was gonna make this a tutorial but I'm pretty sure that implies effort and I don't have any of that laying around. Also because people seem to mistake my uncanny levels of genius for mere peasantry photo manipulation and I am not here for that slander. DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? BITCH I AM KIMMY.Related content

I'm always curious how one goes from the grey-scale rendition to the color. I seem to lose all freakin' focus in that part. I either start in color, or keep it in grey... argh

Wow, this is so great! Thanks for uploading the WIP.
Just curious, how do you get from the b/w to color? Do you just paint over?

Your welcome! I basically just use multiply, overlay or color layer over top, sometimes all three. I never do the same thing twice really just messing around with those three things, then when I get the base color down I merge everything and add my highlights and what not.

basically just painting right on the layer no fancy tricks or anything, ad some highlights and blend with the mixer brush (also using the same brush ) on cs5. I really am the worst at explaining.

that's okay, thank you again for the tips! I just love how saturated all of your rainbow stuff is & all of my drawings on my tablet so far have not looked like that so I'm trying to figure out if it's the brushes I'm using or what. I'm terrible at explaining too, I do everything off-the-cuff (and I'm totally lazy too) so I rarely remember what I did step-by-step. sorry if my recent stuff might look a little like yours, lol, I swear I'm not trying to copy you exactly. o.O~

You're welcome It's probably just the colors you are picking, or you are mixing too much with your shadows and stuff and its pooping up the color. Basically when you pick your colors just go on that color wheeladoop and pick the most saturated color you can. If that fails and it still gets muddy just cheat and up the saturation tbh. and gurrrrl don't apologize its flattering as fuck that I am any kind of influence and you def have your own unique style going on. I always welcome more colorfulness in my face haha.

well then you're welcome dahlink! your work is very ~magical~ lately & that's what I want to interject more of into my art mostly. also, this mixer brush? I haven't used Photoshop in so long that I didn't know it existed and it's AMAZING! so much better than the regular smudge. that solved a lot of my issues, haha! you will have a super colorful Ariel comin' to the lisa-frank group soon.

you know wayyyy back when Photoshop 6 first came out, the smudge brush was a lot more similar to what the mixer is now. so I'm really glad they brought it back, they changed it with PS7 & I've hated it (and abused it thoroughly) ever since. it's all finished & submitted thanks so much again for the advice, it was really invaluable!

yea I don't know why they got rid of it. I know pen canvas had a brush like mixer that I loved and I thought it was ghetto photoshop didnt have the same thing. You're welcome
