Another woman in STEM. Grace Hopper (1906-1992) was one of the earliest creators of authentic programming languages. When she was a child she would pour into books on engineering and would move on to creating modern computing. She also contributed to the creation of the COBOL programming language and devised the idea of compilations of existing languages.

For modern programmers you probably have her to thank for all you work with nowadays.
