Well, I tried to do this with my christmas tree.
Could you explain to me what you did, and how you acheived such clarity, please?
Very well done, man.

i zoomed right in and focussed right out to get them clear you just need to use the right shutter speed for the particular lights you are shooting!

That is incredibly gorgeous - a feast for the eyes. It stays with you, long after you look away - and that's the point. I really got lost in this - but the nice kind of lost! Well done!

Nice one Aid! I had totally forgotten it was bonfire night, being stuck out here in HK where it's not celebrated. Ah well, at least i've seen some fireworks now; even if in digital format!

What....are... they? Are they out of focus fireworks or something else? How did you do this?
I really like the bottom right one - does the original photo have the full circle of it?
Bokeh - japanese blur eh? How do you find these words? Some of them are really random things to just 'know'.
You do realise, that other people submitting shots like these and your cynosure one would just get comments of 'it's out of focus' or some such, but you get people knowing it's intentional?

yup, fully out of focus fireworks :]
unfortunately that bottom one didn't get the full circle, none of these have been cropped!
I picked up the word bokeh from comments people have left me in the past quite a common photographic term i think..

Yeah I've looked through places. I had a go at deliberate out of focus stuff when I went back with my friend to the hospital - the huge theatre light seemed like as good a place as any to do it since it's so huge you can still see what it is if it's blurred, so I knew what I was looking at and also that it was intentional and not just me being crap.
I was surprised how hard it actually was to deliberately make the focus off.
You've given me some ideas though for the light ones I like to do - You set the focus for the fireworks as if it was really close rather than near the infinity point like is normal?
