Description

FIRST PAGE

(Ooh, who's that at the end? It's a mystery.)

Well, that was a nice little thing. I do still feel like Steve turns around a bit quickly, but really they were given about as much time to do so as you could reasonably hope for in a 4-page story.

This page features the other "key visual" which was in my head from the beginning.

Top to bottom: early concept sketch; first layout test; second layout test; rough; final. That very specific image of the rising sun lighting up the mountains in the background, then Steve's tired face, never went away. I like the way the light feels in those two panels.

I think I did a pretty good job overall considering my inexperience with digital painting with brushes, ESPECIALLY for backgrounds. I think page 1 suffered a little as a result of my novice status, but I learned in time to make the rest look pretty good. I look forward to learning even more and surpassing this in future!

The tonal palette shift is dazzling across the pages.

Well, if this is really the end, then it is officially the shortest comic ever. And I hope it continues, because there is still so much about this that I don't understand (like what planet Steve is living on, why he was scared, what he is looking for, what creature he is, and what creature was examining him through the rocks). Hopefully more pages will be added to expand on this comic

Haha... I'm glad that it's left you intrigued, because that was a big part of what i wanted to do. But this is most likely a one-off project. If I were to expand it then it would take so, so long with this artstyle. And I don't know if my writing skills can support a story for that long.

(This isn't the first time I've posted a short comic project though, there was also this one from 2 years ago that's only 3 pages.)
