Description I started out with the intention of building a Medusan-type ship... but -- as so often happens with my modeling -- it went in a completely different direction. I may need to work on that. As I was building this little ship, I realized that it looked a bit like the offspring of a Daedalus class and the Medusan ship from TOS. Nice, clean, simple... Model by me, textures by David Metlesits. Comments are always welcome!

I'd say match up the reactor domes with the red openings on the engines and she would be a stable-mate of 's Β Herald-class

It has those side-openings onto... the main plasma tanks? That red stuff, whatever you believe it is!

Maybe it's a later spec of Daedalus built to keep up with an evolving Starfleet that quickly outpaced the original?

Thanks for the feedback! I envisioned this ship as sort of a midway point between the Daedalus and the Medusan ship. I may revisit it here before too long...

I'm super late!

My honest suggestion is to not think so much about "points on a line." Don't shoot for something that's half-way between stuff, or seeks to explain design trends that don't match. Just make something that looks great to you! If midway between Daedalus and the transport ship looks good to you, shoot, that's it!Β

Good is good! Doesn't matter how you came up with it! John Eaves created Trek ships through total happenstance with open pianos, desk ornaments, and random shapes. Doug Drexler used concepts of what's inside of a ship to create a visual idea. Matt Jeffries worked from Gene's insistence that it's a "rocket ship that isn't a rocket, a flying saucer that isn't a flying saucer." In the end it's your pleasure with the design and your confidence in selling it to the viewer that matters.

Thank you for the support! It means a lot when people give me honest feedback -- and good ideas, too!
