Description Image and text from ~2006

The imagery coalesces from general meditation experience. The mind initially is chaotic, slippery, and clings easily, represented by the fanged mouths in the night. Then these mental fluctuations gradually transform into a peaceful sunrise, and ultimately into the radiance of the awakened Mind. This can be either ontogenetic or phylogenetic, as the process occurring in a given meditation session or the gradual process of transformation throughout ones life toward Enlightenment.

You should do more pieces with this kind of graphic arrangment. I really like the shape of this, and how it enhances your expression of the concept. Very cool...

I agree. Much of my work has been very symmetrical and this arrangement communicates something differently but can still do justice to the inspiration. I hope to eventually redo this drawing, but on a huge canvas - maybe like 3' x 10' long.

Very nice work.

What suggestions/tips do you have for some one who wants to journey into their mind via meditation.

That is a pretty huge question, as I'm sure you're aware. I'll try to keep my answer succinct:

My suggestion would be to find a teacher, or at least a meditation group, and also to read up on meditation. Two books I would most recommend are "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" by Shunryu Suzuki and "Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior" by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. If you are interested also in theory/philosophy of human consciousness, read "Integral Spirituality" by Ken Wilber. These 3 books have hugely influenced my worldview and practice.

I would suggest to find a particular meditation practice and do it every single day. Leave some extra time to try out other meditations, but stick to doing a particular one.

I have personally used entheogens (aka hallucinogens) to empower my spiritual practice, yet you have to be hugely careful about that route. If you consider it, read a whole lot first. ("Psychoactive Sacramentals" edited by Roberts, "Archaic Revival" by Terence McKenna, and erowid.org are some places to start).

Hope that helps...

Cool man, thanks allot for the suggestions. Its always hard to pick a book sometimes because everybody has their own opinion. So its nice for someone to say; yes - this is a good book.

Yea, i recently i had my first complete disconnection of anything that would be perceived as familiar through hallucinogens and need a tool for my mind to continue discovering; meditation etc..

Thanks for the help, might drop you a line somtime.
