Danny ended up with blond hair because the Jewish boss of Columbia pictures, Harry Cohn, wanted him to look less Jewish!

Kay was rather odd looking, an unusual face - though not as odd looking (or ugly!) as the real Hans Christian Anderson!

It looks fantastic, the light is lovely, and the likeness is spot on!
I agree that photos of the silver screen actors and actresses are much sharper and better to draw; I like some nice contrast rather than the over-bleached shots that are currently popular. I suppose that's why, if I'm going to do a star portrait, I almost never choose a current personality.

I think a lot of people realize the value of some of the older techniques. Some more serious artists are still very involved in producing the high contrast black and whites as an art form.

Steve,
When you get old like me... history is like an old friend. Thanks for your support! Greg

You're welcome, bud. Hey, enough with the "old" comments. I resemble that remark!

We wont refer to being OLD anymore.... we will now use the word EXPERIENCED. It looks good on a resume too.

We had the record album of Hans Christian Anderson when we were kids! Remember record albums?

Yes. You don't see much fanart for any of the older actors and actresses.

I have a lot of it in my collection... of course those old photos make excellent references. The contrast and clarity tend to be better than even the more modern photos.

That's true. Then too, back then most publicity photos were in B&W, and they had to be good and clear because the actors used them to advertise themselves to the studios- and then the studios used them to advertise the actors and the movies to the public.

It seems a little crazy. I like to collect old post cards too (pre-1930). Many of them are in great shape and clarity. That's not to say there arent good clear photos. I just think many photographers are not trained to set the shot up properly. I do photo correction for a living.
