Description
I started working on this a few weeks ago. Started out as an experiment. But then I got stuck and walked away for a couple of weeks. Sometimes you just have to step back and let the art have some room. There is an original photo somewhere in there-- was a snapshot during a rainy grew day in Jackson Square in front of the cathedral (nola of course).
I think you still get a sense of it being a rainy wet -- sort of watercolor-ish.

Oh, I love this one. I like the patchwork-quilt-y feel and of course the wet streets... very nicely integrated and happy-making.

thanks-- if you only knew how much i obsess and tweak and play with the colors! in the end i think it gives each image a more organic feels-- adds visual texture to them.
and it was a rainy day in new orleans that day.

I can't quite figure out what exactly draws me to this one, but I love it! I think the most striking thing about it is the composition and the urban textures.. great job!

Can't quite put my finger on why exactly, but I really like this. Looking at this really lifts my spirits up.
(I think it might be that bluish colour in the centre)

sweet that bluish colour didnt start out blue. in fact its a scan of an old folded up piece of paper. I selected the midtones and adjusted the colors.
Im particularly found of those lite icy blues. probably why blue topaz and aquamarine are my favorite gemstones.

Cogwurx is so right... there is a definite rhythmic pattern here... and for being so vibrant in color, the rainy day feel of it comes through so clearly.
Love the composition... it breathes really well!
Also: I can totally see this as film. I would love to see an animated experimental film with your style.

thanks Ben.. the color on this was really important to me-- I spent quite a while adjusting it and pumping up certain colors.
Never thought about trying to translate some of my stuff into film.. interesting thought tho.

thanks rome--when I finally decided to stop solving for x and solved the riddle of the design I had no idea what to call this piece-- but I kept seeing and hearing a jazzy beat when I looked at it.
so im glad you picked up on the beat daddio!

This is a little different from what I usually see from you--less scrambled in nature (not that I dislike the more scrambled nature!). It's neat. I really like this.

less scrambled eh? hmm.. trust me the process to create it probably took just as much scrambling-- if not more till I finally resolved what I was doing and the composition came into focus.
I think it's the way I applied the layers and blended everything together.
thanks!
