WELL it's been at least six months since I last yelled about how much I love the Mountain Goats so I think I'm due for a fangirl moment.

I've been listening to the new album In League with Dragons on rePEAT for like 2 weeks now and it's so, SO good but my favorite track off it (aside from possibly Younger but I mean come on, that's a given) has GOT to be Possum by Night. Just the way it's arranged, with such limited instrumentation, a simple melody and scattered percussion, it's almost like a deconstruction of a song? Like, the middle ground between music and poetry, or as if the song is being written by happenstance.

But pretentious music analysis aside, one thing I LOVE about the song is that every time I listen to it I can't help but imagine a very particular character design. I don't think I'm gonna do anything with them, but it was fun to sort of draw my interpretation of the song. (Although I didn't THINK I'd keep a certain swordfish character design based on a song, so we'll see what happens)
