At this point, not even an outright love confession is going to phase Ash and get him to reciprocate Serena's feelings. He is THAT blind to romance.

Personally I blame the majority of the writers (or whoever's in charge of his character). He has been the anime's main poster boy for nearly twenty #@!*$#~ years and to me, he is a great character with a lot of potential, but they're the ones who continue to reset him over and over and over again and again. I mean I have never seen any other character who has been this poorly written and treated for this long. the only times I thought they gave him a good development was the sinnoh and kalos arc, I could be wrong, I hardly watched the johto, hoen, and black and white arc (black and white for good reason). This is just my take on the matter. My apologies for going off on a tangent.

I understand completely. The only time Ash was pure as a great character was in the original series, but he had his moments in AG until about halfway through where he just lost everything engaging about him. Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos, he's sucked as a character IMHO, and Alola looks to be no different.

I have to say for me, kalos was the best arc of all (despite the league's conclusion and the missed opportunities). sinnoh was a close second as well. but i have to agree with you, i'm not looking too forward to sun and moon, however I might give it a chance. key word: might. and on the plus side, we will always have that kiss scene of him and serena to rewatch.

Nice art! About the ending, I would make Sarah get shot down by killer robots and add lots of bleeding into this. And the robots' creator in his giant air ship drops bombs onto her hometown with people on fire screaming and he rebuilds the town into a pool of toxic ooze to experiment Pokemon and people on. You may be surprised about my view of the ending, but I'm just saying...
