Wow, I've seen you use this style of wing twice in your gallery. How do you make it come out like that? If you wouldn't mind taking a little time to describe your technique...

Be glad to. I basically begin with an elliptical shape for a single feather, then I copy-paste it as often as I need for each feather, resize, and rotate as necessary, then merge the layers. Afterwards, I outline the rest of the wing to interconnect everything into one whole wing. I use the marquee to outline the area, and bucket fill the area, making sure every hole is covered. When I'm done, I have an opaque white wing on its own layer, then I just reduce transparency to create the effect you saw.

Thanks alot. Yah I got a look through your whole gallery, very nice. I'm still a bit confused how you got the gradient effect on the right wing...but I guess I'll just have to figure that out for myself. Thanks again!

If you're talking about the fading of blue and white on the wing, that's the skyscape behind the wing. Since the opacity of the wing is reduced, what you're seeing is the color blending between blue sky, and the rendered clouds behind a translucent wing. The wing to the right of the pic however, was actually 2 objects, then I just blended the two layers at the point where the wing is supposed to bend.

Ah I see, it makes sense! Well even though it wasn't quite intentional the skyscape behind the wing really contributes to giving it the slightly more opaque look near the top where a bone would normally go. I guess adding a bit of white on a layer behind the wing could accomplish the same thing in the future. Thanks so much for the details on this technique the way you put it makes it easy to follow!

This is beautifully drawn. I love the lightness and translucency of the wings, and the spray of the water near her legs. Also the shinyness of her hair is very pretty. Adding to my favs

I really like it, as well! Sure, the girl is pretty and all--you've done an excellent job with that--but her expression, the feeling of pure angelic bliss conveyed by this image...it's fantastic. You have an excellent, clean style--I can see your linework is superb, practically professional--and the colouring isn't bad either. Very nice skin tones and attention to detail in general, and though some small spots might ask for a little more display of depth, for the most part it looks just fine, and definately suiting. Very neat photoshopping effects, too...those are some awesome waves, and the wings as well have just the ephemeral look about them to really "work". All in all, an excellent piece, and I really look forward to seeing more from you. Keep up the great art, and take it easy
