Originally was meant to be a badass Rainbow Dash, but then I thought, "why not have Scoots being awesome."I like how this turned out, but I can think of a few things I messed up. Still, had a lot of fun doing this.
I'm surprised what ideas can show up by listening to DBZ music.
EDIT: Before I get more questions on this, Dash is yellow because of light interaction. Mix blue and an orange light, you will get a yellowish looking color, at least in my mind.

So I just learned about 5 minutes ago that you were at Bronycon like I was. I am very sorry and disappointed that I didn't realize this and didn't get the opportunity to chat with you. Good news about the story: While reception on Fimfiction was minimal, so far it has zero dislikes. On top of that, I gave a hard copy of "Be Like Her" to Maddy Peters. She loved the story a lot and gave me a hug. Once again, I'm so sorry I couldn't speak with you at Bronycon (you may have seen me walk by in the vendor hall; I was carrying a big Rainbow Dash plushie most of the con and had 10 Pokemon TCG badges around my neck). Anyway, please drop me a line if you'll be at Bronycan this year or Everfree 2014. I'm going to both, and would like to make Bronycon 2014 if I can make ends meet financially.

It happens. I think it's the single most common mistake made by artists. The picture is really nice, though, and I will be using it as the cover for a short slice of life story I've been working on (the link to this deviation is in the source on Fimfiction). Odd how this picture cropped up right as I enter the final polishing phase before it gets published after nearly two months, heh.

Thank you for drawing a fitting image! Fimfiction has a "source" field for a story's cover art, so I always try to fill that when I can. The story is called "Be Like Her". I'm not entirely sure when it will be posted, but barring major unforseen problems, it should be fairly soon.

This is a really heartwarming picture to me. Β Dashie taking the time to try to help Scootaloo learn to fly is a wonderful idea. Β
The lighting, even if not necessarily a 100% perfect color for realism, looks very nice. Β It gives the feeling of a nice warm glow from a setting (or rising?) sun, and this makes the piece that much more lovable.

Technically yes, she would be green, but that is a very jarring color when mixed with everything else I have in this.

well you had two options:
- Make it (more) realistic
- Make it look good
You choose a third Option

Both of those options would result in a similar color though. Maybe traces of blue really close to the highlight, but not much.Β

What I am really loving about this piece is the character design as well as the way that you contrasted the solid lines with other soft textures! The entire piece comes together brilliantly as a whole and everything accents one another extremely well! The color work is very well done and resonates so well with the lovely sunset lighting! The shading is flawless and each element provides both emotion and depth! This is a fantastic piece and I would love to see more! Great work! Kind regards, Princess Luna

There's a lot of things I like about this picture, but what I really like about this is your intentional shift in colors to accommodate for the orange sky. Many people would forget that
