They all look into the sky with bittersweet expressions. Like something good, but at the same time, something incredibly sad happened.
Why is Nightmare Moon in the moon?
I can't believe how vibrant this picture is! All the colors, the details..... The stars in the sky that have the color of Twilight's magic..... The fireflies..... The moon reflected on the lake's water..... All the star formations..... One of the shooting stars colored like Applejack, like it's representing her parents.....
Then the colors against the dark night..... It's a perfect composition of colorful and dark.

Because he started off sleepy, and kept awake & active for more than 24 hours. And his "friends" did jack squat to prevent him from getting sick, thus planting the same depressing notion that Grennadder's art here reinforces. I'm not gonna argue about what age-old details of Season One prove or don't prove, because my only point here is that I hate pictures like this.
