Description I really need some proper marker paper. Good thing this was just a doodle, look at how much the ink bleeds on this sketchpad paper. Ah well. Happy New Year, everypony.
Oh, and I'm well aware I didn't colour in the necklace fully. Sorry about that. I don't have a yellow ProMarker. I'll invest in one soon.

Yeah, I wanted to find a suitable quote for her. She has sacrificed for others, most evidently cutting off her glorious tail.
I tell you, that was most definitely self sacrifice for her tail had...

I love that they broke the clichΓ© of a glamorous character, that is very much aware that she is glamorous, being a complete snob and thinking everyone is below her. It's refreshing that they're trying to change stereotypes that kids and adults alike will see on TV. Just because someone has confidence in themselves and happens to enjoy keeping their standards high doesn't completely isolate them to one personality type. Rarity's a very complex character when you think about it.

That's right, they've broken the barrier with Rarity and they've done the same with all the other mane 5 too!

Fluttershy, shy, but not anti-social and can stick up for herself and her friends in a fight.
Applejack, a country girl and a traditionalist that isn't depicted as a moron, thankfully.
Rainbow Dash, loves to win but would always ALWAYS do the right thing, even if that means she has to lose.
Twilight Sparkle, a book worm with good people skills. She didn't at first see the point in making friends, but that didn't mean she didn't know how to interact with them.
Pinkie Pie, she loves parties. We all know that. But she doesn't throw the parties for herself. She throws them because she wants to make her friends happy with them. She's rather easily shattered by means of loneliness. She's more dependent on her friends than they may ever know.

But, you know, that's just how I view them.

Yeah, I've heard some people say pretty harsh things about them before though which always makes me mad. I saw a vid on YouTube once of this guy who was watching an episode for the first time and although he said in the beginning that he would 'watch it with an open mind', the first time he heard AJ talk, he was like "Ah crap, country bumpkin stereotypes!" and then after he heard Rarity talk he said "Ok, that one is officially my least favorite" and then he started calling Rainbow Dash a lesbian and stuff....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grey-Noise In reply to AleximusPrime [2012-01-01 23:48:04 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah, because just because a PONY is sporting a rainbow mane makes them a lesbian. It has NOTHING to do with which gender they find most appealing.
I mean, really. An orientation is defined by which sex you're most attracted to. Why do people have these crazy ideas that a rainbow or liking sports or something means you fit into a certain category? Anyway, they're ponies in an animated children's show, their biggest worries are an ursa major attacking their village. I don't think they're too concerned with which gender they most fancy.
And back to the point of Applejack. That's disgusting that someone hears so much as an accent and judges a character. And some people do find Rarity's dramatics quite grating, and that's okay. But everyone has certain aspects of their personality that are unlikeable to most people. And that's okay too. It helps highlight other aspects of them, like Rarity is undeniably generous. Her image is one of the most important things to her and she willing would give it up. What's wrong with a person who would dislike that?

AleximusPrime In reply to Grey-Noise [2012-01-02 01:17:43 +0000 UTC]

I know, I think the exact same thing! Like Lauren said herself: stereotyping Dash like that is offensive to both gay/bi and straight tomboys all together. Of course when I think rainbows, gay is not the first thing to ever come to my mind.

Yeah, it's stereotyping at it's finest...
