Oh, we studied that in Art History! 
For those who don't know: "la vanité" or "vanitas" is the theme for this type of art. ^^ Vanitas art is a style that is there to remind us that we are mortals and that our lives will end one day.
Philippe de Champaigne's "Vanité" is a classic, one of the most famous:

But my favorite would probably be La Madeleine à la veilleuse, by Georges de La Tour, in 1640:
