Description This picture is a commission I recently did for the lovely ; she provided me with a wonderful list of subject matters, one of which was Labyrinth, so voila, her wish was my command! I thought I'd focus on the line that Sarah could never remember, and which causes Jareth's downfall.

Sadly none of these wonderful characters belong to me, but to Jim Henson, Lucasfilm and co.

Good old Labyrinth, now THAT takes me back to the good ol days...... wait...can i even say that since i am only 19??? Eh, well either way, still does =3.
Lufferly work, i really like the straight 'black' and 'white' colors to it, and the one line, who could forget??....well....save for Sarah .

I really love these pics of yours especially the style as I told you before. You're doing a great job at conveying characters attitudes and feelings through just poses and minimal amount of detail. I adore their stances, they are speaking so much!

Quality!
You've captured Bowie's look, indeed the elven, aloof, whimsical nature of his character in the film - no mean feat in a silhoutte drawing. I particularly like the hair (of both characters, the Goblin King's spikey tufts & Sarah's spaghetti tendrils). I also like the way you've woven in details from the film - the clock, Toby in his Renfield-staightjacket-stylii babygro, the Labyrinth border.
I'm not so sure about the black hi-lights (black hi-lights, is that a contradiction in terms.........er.....oh, you know what I mean) on the sleeves/Sarahs trousers. they break up the minimalist simplicity of the silhoutte a bit.
White ink eh? it's wierd stuff. Does this mean you were working on black paper?

As for the film itself You'd think - with flycat Bowie in the cast, Jim Henson doing his thang, conceptual design by the Fairie King himself Brian Froud, & screenplay by Terry Jones - it would be a classic. But.......( and I know this is probably going to go down with you & the rest of The Labyrinth Appreciation Society like a barrel of rancid whelks, but a Gentlemans Code of Honour demands unflinching honesty )........personaly I thought it was rather disapointing; Saccharin is the word that comes to mind
People often say "Oh, the book's better than the film"; but in this case I think it's more like "Greyfleas illustration is better than the film"!

Thankyou, what a lovely/interesting comment! I'm so glad that people can tell it's a Labyrinth-inspired picture....then again maybe the title had something to do with it. ;D I had great fun doing the hair; Sarah didn't originally have those bits of straggly hair at the front, but I added them as my sister commented that 'she looked like an alien' without them. I know what you mean about the lowlights, I was in two minds about them when I did this. I think it was just an excuse on my part to add some detail, but I see what you mean. Yep, twas working on black paper! White ink's cool, but you have to shake it before use otherwise it's a bit rubbish (a lot of inks are like that, annoyingly)

Ah, such blasphemy! *laughs* I totally agree that it is indeed saccharin and incredibly corny, but for some reason it doesn't bother me with this film. Probably due to high levels of nostalgia and the fact David Bowie's in it, as usually I hate anything remotely corny. ;D Aw, thanks very much for that last comment, very kind of you, though I disagree!
