Thank you! I liked how it came out also. I am still learning photoshop and at the time when this was done, I was not at the point where I was able to achieve results without a lot of trial and error. Therefore the end result was sometimes a bit of a surprise.

True. That is one of the benefits of the program in that it is complex enough that it is not easy to outgrow. Each new release adds useful features but does not render previous versions obsolete.

Was CS2 the first version you bought?

My first version an English one 0.5 I believe (I began....1998).

With pagemaker, and Quark xpress ,image ready...

Yes CS2 was my first and I still use it. I also have Elements 9 which I use because I like the work space. I do most of the work in Elements and use CS2 for the aspects that are not present in Elements. As an example, I do color matching, object morphing or warping, gradients and masks in CS2 and the more general work in Elements. If I every upgrade to a newer version I will most likely do a of the work within one program.

The same for me in that I only work in photoshop. I have a program called Terragen (the free version) that produces some decent landscapes. It has a fairly steep learning curve and to be honest, I haven't Β spent too much time with it. I turned out a few landscapes that were not too bad and see that I could use it to build up backgrounds for photoshop. It is just that I have too little free time and want to use it getting whatever idea I have bouncing around in my head onto photoshop.

I also downloaded Terragen, for free but never did something with that program.

I only use photoshop now.

I should spend more time learning it as it seems a good program.

58bluemarbles In reply to greyfortofmars [2013-10-01 14:34:11 +0000 UTC]

I downloaded it because I though I could learn something as matte painting with that program...

But I'm not good at painting and my hands are suffering of arthritis... they're very painful when it's raining and I can use a tablet anymore...

greyfortofmars In reply to 58bluemarbles [2013-10-01 16:14:50 +0000 UTC]

I rely on my tablet for almost all of my work. I do not think that I would be able to do without it. I started out using a mouse but quickly ran into limitations. My work improved after I bought the tablet. I end up with shoulder and wrist cramps after a long session, but rearranging my work space would help I think.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is very painfull. I have always had some back issues but arthritis is more recent. My knees and shoulders are the worst and causing some limitations. I can only hope that it does not get worse. Health care in this country is not what it once was. When I was young, everyone could go to the doctor and get checkups or be seen for illnesses. Now it must be life threatening in order to get permission from the insurance companies to go to a doctor.

It's the same for us health care isn't what it once was...people with cancer need to pay all their medications self...

Our economy is worse....

When I was little the future was supposed to be bright and shiny with all sorts of cool stuff. Ended up being closer to "Mad Max". I am not sure if we over-extended in the 50s and 60s or if it is a product of having a global economy.

Did you read Stephen King's 22-11-63?Β

It's one of my favorite....If we could return back to time...and changed things...

Here in Belgium they can pay retirements for people aged 60.... (I could retired because I worked for 46 years)

so everybody in the future will work until they're 70 years (so they look the job you're doing....)

Young people here can't find jobs because the older one have experience.

The whole system here need to be changed....

They do nothing about homeless people living in the streets with little children...(and in Belgium there is nothing like 'Salvation Army').

So we're thinking Tine and I to start a project with food shops and provide this people a warm meal a day.....

There are here so much manufactories, hospitals, building who are empty....why not let this people stay there....

It's not human....in winter it shall be -15Β°C at day...night...

And I'm aware that your economical system is not better then our...

I just recently read 22-11-63 and found it very thought provoking. One of my favorite books by him also. People here are also working much later in life than before. I think several factors are to blame. One is that many people cannot afford to retire because they were unable to save money to live on and social security(our retirement fund from the government) does not pay enough. Another is that people remain active much longer than they once did and simply do not want to retire. What ever the reason, the job market is more competitive. We also outsource many jobs to Asian markets that were once done at home leaving fewer jobs to be filled here. We also once were world leaders in industry and manufacturing virtually guaranteeing Β everyone a job after high school. Those jobs are all gone now. The environment is much better for it but at the cost of economic hardship as those jobs were never replaced. We also have many people who are homeless but there are programs to help. These programs are often over stretched and some people are not helped. Here in the northeast our winters can be cold as well. Our climate is affected by the Great Lakes bringing heavy snow at times. The cities east of the lakes are most affected. Being outside or with inadequate shelter can be brutal. It is mild now as today will be 80 degrees f (26c) but in about a month or so winter will begin.

I read it and it's one of my favorite too..the dark tower is also. And especially ' The drawing of the three'.

26Β° at this moment we have 18Β° at the moment. And it's to hot for Belgium at this moment of the year.

I see your economical situation is not better then our. Young people need to have University graduations to find a job here.

The most jobs as plumber or roofer are taken by people from Poland...or other european. Nursing jobs too..

Having a degree here is not always a sure way to find a good job. Some spend tens of thousands of dollars on an education and can only find work at a fast food restaurant. Our weather in my area typically is warm at this time of year. We had a cool spell a few weeks back before it warmed up again. this will last until sometime in November, then it will get cold. We have flowers blooming and the snakes and frogs are active during the day. They will use this time to put on weight before hibernation. Our coldest weather comes in January and February when the temperatures can be near 0 degees f. (-18 c). It seems to be that it does not get as cold as it did when I was a child. Winter seemed to last for 4 months then. Ponds and rivers would freeze over. They don't any more.Β

Here it's the same we have advocate student who 're carrying garbage ben.

In November begins our winter. The coldest period is also january and february but this year we had the longest winter.

Only july, august and september were good months. Now the bees are flying around the ivy like if it's summer.

The squirrels are stealing all our walnuts for before they have their hibernations.

But I just received a call I have to go to the shelter now their is something with the horses

I will be leaving for work as well. We live at latitude 39.5 and you are at around latitude 50 I think. Other than you being much farther north than we are, our climates are different because you have a maritime climate and we have a temperate climate. During the summer our weather comes from the plains and this means that sometimes storms in the summer can be severe. We can have high winds, even tornados, heavy rain and lots of lightning. During a bad storm last summer I was on my way home from work when a tree was uprooted and fell on my truck. The right side hood, fender and roof was crushed. I was almost home and could see my house when it happened. Our winter storms are sometimes bad because they come from our north across the lakes. The storms pick up a lot of moisture that way and can bring heavy snow. We are almost too far south for this to affect us but sometimes it does. A few years ago we had a big snowfall. I took a few photos of the storm and will link them for you. Here they are- Β greyfortofmars.deviantart.com/…
