hmm... i do not see it like that.
I think we can create what we want and put it "out there" for the world to see. We have to take in consideration that there are going to be people who will like it and people who will hate it.
Finished work has it's life on it's own. Why would Truffaut mind what thinks an unemplyed art academy graduate? It was him that was considered an artist by many people
on the other hand : for me it means nothing to be considered an artist by most people.

il a commencé à faire ses films en voulant remettre en cause l'académisme du cinéma français des années 50
certes, je suppose qu'il n'aurait pas apprécié que tu dises du mal de ses films, mais je crois qu'il aurait été fier de te voir engagée dans ton propre processus créatif
