Description
Belle has been having ha bad day, er..week..month..life.Here's her newest accommodations. An abandoned seismic recording station on the outskirts of town.
Will she be safe from her enemies and home invaders in there?

This hidey hole is even worse than I feared, comfort-wise. I love the light of the display on Belle's face. She looks so thoroughly unhappy - well, that girl has had a rough time. And the charity case-line... I think that touches me most, because it turns the good things in her life, the people who care about her into something bitter and humiliating.
The sad thing is, Kachka half suspects that she herself is a charity case for Belle. (Not too unreasonable, with Belle's track record in trying to cure psycho-killers with kindness.)

Oh there's a painting I'm planning on doing that shows the abandoned lot this all takes place in. Next to the 'silo' is a little shack full of cheap, high octane booze she stockpiled just for this outing. Wait, can it be an putting if she's inside?

I'd gather Belle doesn't contact Pin because she doesn't want to run the risk of Brogan hurting poor Pin, or her siblings, just to get to Belle.
She doesn't contact Kachka because she's too close to Brogan. Plus, in the mood she's in in this pict, hanging out with a monotone bomber wouldn't exactly perk her up.

Millie Barr heard the hatch way above starting to turn. She reached for the gasgun DW had given her as an apology for the bit of mistaken identity some time ago and aimed upwards. They weren't going to take her without a fight!
Sunlight spilled down into the hole. Sun...? Wasn't it nighttime? She'd lost track of time in the seclusive hideout...
"You look like hell." Said a gruff, familiar voice.
"Aries! What're you doing here? What's the big idea?!" Millie snapped.
"Got worried when you didn't come to the Rattled Saber bar for our Wednesday drink. Then I saw the whole Zephyr thing on the news and... well, after that story you told about that night you met Negaduck I was frankly concerned. Me. Concerned. Imagine that." Aries said, chuckling.
"How'd you even find me?!" Millie growled.
"I'm a mercenary Belle. It's what I do." Aries replied.
"Yeah, well, go away. You'll blow my cover." Millie said, scowling.
"Yeah... Wouldn't want to force you to move out of your opulent surroundings." Aries said. "C"mon... Let's find you someplace comfortable *and* secluded."
"Screw you, Aries! I found this place on my own with nobody else's help and I'm going to do what I can with it." Millie snarled. "I don't have skill with a sword, guns, tactics or any of that! The only thing super about me is my super lousy luck. But I don't need your help and I sure as HELL don't need your pity!"
Aries stared down into the hole at the duck, gray eyes wide in surprise at the strong words. "Millie... You've told me the stories of what you've been through and while it might suck, it's the hand you're dealt. I don't know that much, Millie. I can swing a sword, shoot a gun, track down people and scare, but outside of that... Not a whole lot. Hell, I didn't even go through High School. Everything's self-taught. But one thing I do know is that the worse feeling in the world is to be pitied."
Millie said nothing, arms crossed over her chest.
"I also know what it's like to have both sides of the law at your throat. Did you know I was actually hung once? But from what I see, the only one pitying you is yourself." Aries said.
Belle flew up out of the hole with surprising speed and threw a punch right at Aries' eye, sending her sprawling. Her punches were more effective now that she'd put steel bars in her gloves since her bones were as elastic as her flesh. "How can you know?! You come from a line of royalty! I'm your average, run of the mill girl who circumstance chose to give the worst super power ever to! I tried to be a villain but not only was my heart not into it, but I sucked at it! I tried to be a hero and sucked at that too! When I finally teamed up with the right people, I started to see the glimmers of success! Then that obsessive psycho Steelbeak ruined what little respect I had!" She yelled, standing over Aries and emphasizing each statement with another punch to Aries' face.
"And I...!" She stopped, her rage subsiding. "Do... feel sorry for myself." She muttered, looking away. "God... I do. I really damned do. Not surprising... Life's been crap since I fell into that vat."
She looked down at Aries, one of those few who she could probably one day call an honest friend, seeing that one eye had swollen shut and was black, her lip was split, her muzzle bruised, her open eye bloodshot and one ear sagging. Still, she managed a weak grin. "Feel better?" She asked, spitting some blood to the side.
Millie let out a weary sigh. "No. No I don't."
"What say we head to my truck and get some good whiskey... and an ice pack. Owww..." Aries suggested, rubbing her face.
Millie looked towards the glittering metropolis of St. Canard just on the horizon, troubled brow furrowed. "Every time I seek solace in booze, the real world is waiting for me as soon as it runs dry. I can't just drink away my problems anymore. Or hide from them. I need to tackle it all head on... And if you're my friend, you'll help me." She said, looking down at Aries, offering the wolfess a hand.
"Friend huh? I think I like the sound of that better than drinking pal." Aries said, taking her hand and getting hoisted up.
"Then let's get ready... I know what I have to do but... whooo... is it gonna be tough." Millie said.
Aries nodded. "Amen. But seriously though, I'm getting some booze and ice for my face... This frikken hurts!"
[Author's note: I wanted to show Millie herself coming to these realizations rather than being told them. And Aries didn't have all the answers this time. She even offered to indulge her and Millie's mutual vice. But I figured Millie had decided rock-bottom was enough for her and it was time to take a stand. After all, self-realization is always the only way! And I believe in Belle, that she has the strength inside to do it]

This was really well written! I only saw two problems.
Belle has no bones or innards of any kind.
The other; I couldn't see her coming to such a resolution so quickly. Unless she was motivated by anger or revenge, she wouldn't have such a fast turn around.
The steel in the gloves was a cool touch that I really liked!

As for the second bit, yeah, it was anger that spurred the turnabout, as Aries' bruises will attest.
On that note, Lone Candle's first page has been made and the artist and I are waiting for approval from Comicgenesis for posting ^_^

Heh heh heh!
But yeah, Lone Candle's narrative structure will involve a group of students doing a biographical work on the late mercenary since it's the centennial anniversary of her passing. An old woman who runs their favorite tavern and inn overhears them discussing the project and offers to share her insights since she was a confidant of Aries'.
The main story will be free, but there will be tangential comics that feed into the main story that'll be downloadable for few bucks. For each of those stories, it'll be someone or another who knew her in life telling the students about a particular adventure, such as her days as a general, her plunge into Hell itself before breaking right back out again and when she became trapped in a town that was encased in a fragmented temporal flux.
Comicgenesis is processing the first page and it should be up within a week once they've approved the comic application ^_^
