It is pretty simple actually. The things on top select the color scheme type. Monochromatic, adjacent, triad, and tetrad.
Then freestyle is a complimentary/opposite color palette.
My favorites are triad and complimentary. =]
Just use it by picking a scheme and moving the dot around to your main color, then adjust the other color to fit what you want.
It is pretty simple, but looks confusing. Let me know if you have any more questions as usual. =]

Lorin, how do you do your coloring? You have so many different shades for the skin! I've been trying to work on coloring but I can never seem to get it to have depth like yours does. Any tips?

Well what it really breaks down to is...
-One base skin tone, generally go a bit more yellow, you will get the warm pink in later with blush.
-A very warm shadow tone, this is important that it is warm and not overly dark generally or the character looks dead... XD
-And a blush color. I use the blush color around the cheeks, the nose, the lips, the eyes, and even places like the shoulders and sometimes breasts. Basically anywhere on the body that usually has a nice pinkish tone from blood on the surface. it adds the real life to the character in my opinion.
-Lastly, I go back in and sparingly use white or another bright color to make highlights where the skin might shine.
So if I laid out a palette, you would only see like 4 colors for the skin including the highlight, it just looks like more because I use brush sensitivity to blend them a bit.
I actually have a couple videos that sorta show the process, but I don't always do it the same.
The portrait one I have starts from the shadow tone but I usually start with the base skin tone now.

I LOVED your tutorial! I don't think you were that awkward at all. In fact, I think your voice over was really helpful. Looks like there is a lot about photoshop that I have yet to learn XD
I'm working on one piece of Soka and I'd love it if you would look at it once I have it all colored and let me know if you see any place I can improve on

There is infinite photoshop to learn, the trick is just figuring out what helps you for what you like to do.

You are so right about the photoshop thing though. I recently learned how clipping masks work and it has rocked my world XD it's so much easier to shade and stuff!
