Description
I got so gifted by my niece Blutaniashe gave me several sketches of my Ocs.
and i coulnd resist to use Nix for a colouring tryout.
And i can say this took me several days. First creating the line art and than the colouring.
I fought against a hugh lag. I couldnt see where i draw and than i changed settings to prevent this and than i couldnt see my brush size anymore ... it was soooo mega frustrading but i fought hard and finished it today... i defenetly need to learn more before i do such a colouring again ... ways to prevent the lag better and maybe some other brushes.
I drew this on Clip studio paint
A4 canvas by 350 dpi
and i used the watercolour brushed for the first time- and they feld awesome - i thought i like the airbrush but the watercolour just as amazing.
I wounder wish brush i try next.
NIX DAMON IS my OC

You're getting better so so fast! Congrats . I see that you're discovering the magic power of watercolor brushes you're using them very well. Try to experiment with doing your own brushes not only those watercolor ones for exapmle the "transparent eraser" (I think that's the best way to call this XD) I've made something like that and it's usefull. Keep it on dude!

I think it's looking really great!! I really love the soft, warm colours and the skin looks fantastic!!
It's a shame about all the lag and the difficulties you had though, but I don't think that's your fault! Usually that's just the computer being too slow/too weak to handle a decent size canvas.

i loved the sketch she gave me ... it wouldnt look so nice if i drew it myself ...
it was really self testing here ^^
it was my first line art wich looks better but i used the cheating curve tool
i still can not draw a smooth strait line free hand -_-
and i did a custom brush for the hair... it took me 3 hours (just because i am silly) but i am still not really happy with it
what is ur usall size for the canvas and the dpi?
do you use normal or vector layers?

Here's an important lesson I learned from professionals: Curve tool isn't cheating, heck using any tool isn't cheating. So long as you give proper credit where it is due (like when you use a photograph in your art), then whatever tools you use doesn't matter. The final picture is all that counts!
Nothing will be easy the first time around, getting used to custom brushes usually takes a while, don't worry!
Pfff... err... I just use the standard international A4 canvas size settings in photoshop, I think its like 72 dpi? Not a lot, I don't pay much attention to the technicalities because I've not yet run into any problems with the standard settings :'D As for normal or vector layers; photoshop can only use normal layers as far as I know. Not sure what exactly vector layers are but I do know what vectors are and they are generally speaking not something you want to use for painting related stuff. (vectors are great for things like illustrating, logos, web design, etc.)

ahhh ok thank you so much for this.
Well i still need to learn so much...
today i just wanted to trew my new tablet out the window ... somehow my set settings are gone and it do weired stuff wich it didnt done before :S
like it is super sensitive even my hand just set it to funtion and if i choose a colour it wont let go and when it finally let the colour go where i want it than the pen grabs something else and wont let go it messed so my settings and i dont even know how or why.. and i couldnt do it back... good i was soooooo frustraded ... i guess i need to do a main reset tomorrow ..
i feel like i am really to silly for this :S
all i want is just draw and paint ... but somehow this aint working these days.
I just printed the Bo you made me few days ago in a sweet card size and pinned it on to my happy wall ^^
i feel like some stuff are to good as to just watch at it online from time to time ^^

Be careful with your tablet, you don't want to kill it! But once you're comfortable with your tablet, it can last years! Sometimes its a matter of finding the right brand too, I had a trust tablet that I hated after a year, but a wacom bamboo my parents gifted me lasted me 6 years until I spilled water all over it like an idiot.
Try and find solutions on google if your hardware/software stops working correctly! Try in both english and german, IIRC germany has a pretty large digital art community.
Keep going, once you're past this hurdle you can go back to drawing and painting!
Awwww, so heartwarming to read you printed it out! I feel honoured to be on your happy wall!!

Yehh i first reset my tablet settings and found out that somehow the sensetivity was on very light... now i made it to harder but i am not quite sure if i can handle it.
than i turned the touchpad off... i just need the pen so my hand wont irritate.
Than i found out how to reset my paintprogramm- so all weired things are gone now...
and i tryed to draw on a lower dpi and bigger canvas and the lag was ok i think
the charles -contest prize i just uploaded.
thank you so much for all your support it mean a lot for me ^^

Make sure you keep your drivers for your tablet up to date, and check if there is a configuration/control panel specifically for your tablet. My wacom tablet comes with a little program that lets me adjust all the settings, including the sensitivity.
No problemo, that's what an art-community is for, no? Would be boring if nobody showed support

i guess i painted over 20 hours on this and i wasted so much time yesterday because of the lag and i tried to make a custom brush ..
I wish i can do this again but before i even try i need to figure out some settings i really dont wanna have this again... it takes away all my mood to finish it
so you really like this kind? i used the watercolour brush the first time
^^

Yeah, I wouldn't want to work with all those lag issues and the brush size disappearing on me either! I hope you can find the fix for it. I'm not too sure what the problem would be since I never really had lag issues unless I was working with a very large scale brush.
And I really do! The shading is super smooth and it all really makes the image pop~ The watercolor brushes are very nice to use and I hope you will have more fun with whatever you experiment with next, when you can experiment again~

wich canvas size are you using by wich dpi?

JynErik In reply to GreySparkle [2018-01-02 19:03:55 +0000 UTC]
Depends on the work I am making, I usually start of with a canvas size of 1600x 1000 at 72dpi
I've never experimented outside of that dpi range, but the canvas sizes vary
