WOW! The colors really pop! the eyes, the fur... Amazing!
This picture is going right into my favorites folder!

For some time I've considered investing in some derwent colored pencils to make this kind of artwork. I already work with soft pastel pencils, but I can't really do detail work with them as much as I liked too and thought that maybe colored pencils would do the trick??

Maine coons <3. I have my own too. How big are these guys? Mine is about 10 kilos or a bit more. But he is a little fat. Doesn't like to moove at all. He wouldn't clomb a tree in my wildest dreams. But JΓΆrΓΆ is okay, he is a hansom and good natures cat and I love him <3

the fur is just amazing. if i may ask, how did u draw the whiskers?did you draw white over the rest of the fur or just leave it blank?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GreyStork In reply to Filidoria [2011-11-04 01:30:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the kind words.

I used an embossing tool (example: [link] ) to mark up the whiskers before I drew the fur. When the whiskers are indented in the paper, it is much easier to avoid pencil strokes into them.

Aww, You don't know how much I love this! :3 I thought it was a photo for a minute. The detail is incredible! And what beautiful cats you have there. The orange one (Alya?) Looks a little like my cat, Woggles. :3 Anyway, Great job! You deserve a watch!

Thank you very much! Like your Woggles, Ayla (Sky's grandmother, which you correctly identified) passed away 7 years ago. Fortunately, I still have Sky to keep me company.
