I've never been a fan Nightmare Celestia, since the fan art never really managed to capture just how terrifying powerful, destructive, and sinister Nightmare Celestia could be, and came across as gaudy and a simple trope of opposites. Compared to Nightmare Moon, Nightmare Celestia doesn't carry the same weight of danger, or send shivers down my spine.
This piece of art has me thinking otherwise. Just look at Twilight's face! She's terrified to fight her former mentor, and her friends are notably missing. Where are they? Given how more cunning Celestia can be, it's easy to assume the worst.
And, just wondering, how big do you figure the sun is? Clearly it must be smaller than the planet if Nightmare Celestia feels safe enough to throw it at Twilight without the planet exploding, unless she's evil AND insane. How large would it need to be to provide for the energy needs of the planet? Hm ...
