I'm having a hard time understanding the logic and nature of his complexion. He's a ghost, but not really? Aren't walls part of the ground too?

He fell, and all his spots fell off him somehow and landed on the ground. For every deed he does he gets another spot, hence the title, and I think when he gets all his spots he will be able to touch everything. Yes, walls are part of the ground... but they are sloping upwards? XD
