Description
My Medauroidea extradentata, stick bug is laying eggs now. I saw 3 had already hatched so I let them be there with mommy while getting rid of the other eggs. Not planning on getting 10,000 stick bugs :'D Pinne usually sits on my screen while I animate.TINY BASTARD.

That has really got to be the weirdest pet ever... but really cool... what is the lifespan of a stick bug anyway?

The size difference is phenomenal....it would be easy to miss the baby one! Hope you didn't miss any eggs--10,000 big stick bugs might be a bit much, even if you adore them....

Really sweet of you to have a stick bug as a pet.
My mother had a praying mantis once - she laid three egg sacks before she died.
Still.. I appreciate the fact you are doing this for the species.

Doing what for the species? o3o
She got rid of the rest of the eggs, and I believe the babies were accidentally hatched. x3;

Stick insects are (seemingly) rare - especially where I live.
You having one as a pet, and it laying eggs, is really cool - that's what I was trying to say.

"getting rid of the other eggs"?
are you letting them into the wild or...?
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
griffsnuff In reply to salt-puppy [2013-02-13 23:03:26 +0000 UTC]
No you need to crush them x3 If I let them into the wild they would well ruin lots of the plants seeing stickbugs are not suited for norwegian nature and they would freeze todeath during spring, fall and winter. so crush the eggs before they turn into baby sticks

I'm the kind of jerk that immediately thinks "who cares if a bunch of bugs die? haha", but I understand the importance of life and would like to say that griffsnuff is really cool and probably let them into the wild :] so don't worry, baby stick bugs are probably having a blast in some park :3

I hate bugs. They creep me right out, they way they move just doesn't set well with me (ironically if some kind of strange looking insect ends up in my house I'm the type to trap it and put it back outside instead of kill it), but this is strange and beautiful. Definitely a side of bugs I don't see often. Thank you for sharing.
