well i, like a good few people still on DA, are only on DA still for the group feature, as no other art site that has popped up that offers a similar feature that is as well organised and simple to use, but if DA runs itself into the ground before such a site pops up it cant be helped.

i think degrading is, uh, a very harsh and dramatic word for it, but i would agree that it has a negative connotation. i don't think, though, that the rebranding is worth the huge outcry when the community could be focusing on policies that allow art thieves to profit from others' work and the unequal censorship of "mature" works wherein female nudity is allowed (even of direct lower-body genitalia) but male nudity of the lower-body genitalia is not.

The reason why so many people detest the whole core thing is
because topics you mentioned are brought up again and again among the community from users.
But instead of help or solution suggestions in that departement
we get a new premium for more money with less privileges.
The fact that the dA staff instead of talking to the community
about financial problems and such chose to cut the communication didn't help.

i guess i haven't seen much of the discussion amongst the artists i follow. before this, i had only seen the problems with paypal allowing chargebacks (which isn't even on deviantart, haha).
i hope those intending to boycott dA have success, but the plans that have been cropping up don't appear to be economically viable when it comes to maintaining the "deviantart v.2" site in the long-term.

honestly people are looking at making a new da but there's already a site out there that lets you customize your entire page for free you just need to get a registration code. I personally love nabyn and how friendly people are plus the fact that things are free is a nice perk because everyone had the option

im not for core, but theirs ways around it, (Eg. stylish extension) and i dont need money to draw on this site, im dirt poor so getting a membership if far above my head.... but so what? then dont buy it.
only the vain complain when they cant be pretty, the people that work hard frown and keep doing what they love, with grumbles, and not adding money.
im not going to defend deviantart, they are a business that is struggling with changes, so a change in cost is expected though warning should of been issued, and they really need to start talking to everyone instead of doing what businesses do.
but please, do consider, they can easily shut down the servers, will you still complain when they do turn it off, and to who? do not complain if you cant live with the change that may come.

My premium membership was a birthday gift, and I don't intended on getting it again, but that's not the point. Some users need premium membership to be able to advertise, and some of them are trying to make a living off of art. So core is just going to make it harder for them.
As far as dA making money. I can understand if dA is losing profit and wants to make more. But all they had to do was add a few new features to these core memberships, and more importantly TELL US.
And yes by the way, I will complain if they shut down the servers. All over social media.
I'm angry about this change, but if dA makes more mistakes like these in the future, I'm telling ya buddy, no one will be able to cope, and I have the right mind to leave now when I have the chance.
