Around 2010 I believe. Its an American Manga about witches and warlocks that (James Perri II ) created and has had difficulties continuing with volume 2. Jasper is completely different from Spartacus but resembles him in appearance enough to make me think of him

Its a publication problem. The first volume got leaked online from my understanding so its sales weren't high enough for TokyoPop (the publishing company) to continue it. After two years Perry finally got permission from them to continue it (since they owned the rights to it) but he had to come up with the money for publishing and also self publish. He found he needed around $15,000 and used Kiskstarter to get the money by donations from fans who wanted the next book and others who thought his cause worthy enough to donate money. He's trying to get it published this year.

Its a great read! and if you like it and decide to preorder the second volume Perry will even sign it. I bought the first volume a second time for an autograph and got one for a friend for her birthday. He even told her happy birthday in her copy ^_^
Kickstarter is a good website. I believe that's what Griff and her teammates in Krillbite Studios are using to get extra funding for their upcoming game.
