It's not about what I like :/ I like this just fine. What I object to is that silly, non-skill-requiring things get raised to the fabled ~FRONT PAGE~ when so many quality works go ignored.

If I see a huge-eyed anime girl with all the wrong proportions on the front page, it might not be to my taste, but I can recognize that the artist spent time and effort on it. Just like I can chuckle at a demotivator and a funny cat gif, I know full well that it doesn't deserve esteem.

What you might see as not having skil, someone else might. Ive found lots of great things on the frontpage without it being super detailed art with lots of effort in it.

Time and effort doesnt make it any better. Its what you see, some might like it some might not.

Just chill and let people like what they like without looking down on them

I don't though! I don't think there's anything wrong with liking a skill-lacking picture if it appeals to one in some other way, that would be ridiculous. Mostly my complaint is the general setup of the deviantart front page and what gets raised to fame and what doesn't.

But yes I do think art requires effort, if not effort in the form of painstaking hours spent on the work in question, then effort in the time spent developing the skills required to be able to produce something very nice in a short amount of time. And I still will never think that something that required neither of those things deserves the level of recognition that the front page brings.

Skill isn't totally subjective, and skill doesn't always come in the form of 'super detailed art'. I mean really.

So if I tell you that making this gif took longer than making this [link] so this meaning it took more effort for me to create that simple gif you say didnt take much effort, than to acutall draw a "full of effort artwork.

First of all I had to wait for my cat to do something exiting, which is very rare, And I had to get up take around 40 pictures to get 2 good ones, and then put them into the computer find the good ones, only this took 2 hours to do, then I had to make the colors prettier and sharpen the photos alittle making sure everything was aligned. This alone took atleast 1 hour, and then animate it and put it up, saying it all took around 3+ more hours.

while that drawing took 30 mins xD

Skills or not skills, just because something looks better doesnt mean more effort were put into it.

I don't really consider time spent to be analogous to skill And yes, I would say that drawing deserves the front page more than this.

I suppose I could spend some time arguing out what exactly is defined as what and which of those definitions qualifies a piece to deserve front-page-itude, but ah well I don't actually care. Enjoy being popular.

God, you don't need to try and make people feel bad just to try get attention. Besides, it's not the artists fault it's on the front page. So keep your hurtful comments to yourself.

1. I was not attempting to get attention. For all my faults, that is not one of them.
2. It is not, but that doesn't make my observation less valid.
3. I would not classify my comments as hurtful. If you do, you must be rather sensitive. I do not say intentionally hurtful things.

Yes but still the definitions is all to who sees it, your definitions on what you mean should be on the frontpage can be totally diffrent to what others see. So theres nothing wrong in anything that is there.

I dont really see the point in complaining about it, you should rather give attention to things you think should be there instead of giving peices you dont think should be there more comments, because that will help keeping it on the frontpage longer.

Go to the ones you think is amazing and give them some love instead :3 And recomend those who arent on there for daily deviations if you think they should be seen. Thats what I do all the time ^^
