Man I only just started playing Minecraft and I thought "hmm let's explore this body of water" and fuck these things at the bottom scared the crap out of me. Then when my boat exploded in the middle of an ocean once and I landed near a heap of them I bloody freaked D:
This makes me feel somewhat better about the squid situation though, thanks dude.

They spawn (usually) at really deep depths of water, altho i've seen them spawn in like 1 block deep...

I've seen CoeStar gone that deep and all I've seen down there are those ambiguously less-threatening slimes
