I agree that the Twilight vamps are sparkly pussies that are in desperate need of a visit from Van Helsing....
And yet, I do like the new werewolves. I would like them more if they weren't human-loving attention whores who fall in love with clutzy BFF girls...and they kept their shirts on more.

i read twilight (only the first one) a few years ago, and even then, i simply could not finish. it was actually kind of painful. i have put several books down because they could not hold my interest, but twilight was another story entirely. the plot was hazy and unfocused, bella was unlikable (actually - pretty much everyone was unlikable), the writing was mediocre at best, and the entire book felt like stephanie meyer was vicariously living through her characters. it was like a crazy vampire / necrophilia sex fantasy. keyword : CREEPY.
however, i do not have a major problem with people enjoying twilight. unfortunately, many of them don't shut up about it and try to convert me into a twilight fan.
[ also - vampires should not sparkle. people say that edward is gay. i do not care if he is gay; i just don't want him to sparkle. it's disturbing and an insult to vampires. ]
excuse my rant there; i just needed to vent a bit.

I was expecting something along the lines of Riddick - a vicious and remorseless human predator who has killed hundreds (if not thousands) of people at torture range. What makes him a "hero" is that though he is a genuinely Axe Crazy Knife Nut who lives to tear people to shreds simply for the joy of it (somewhat averted, as he IS a member of a near extinct Proud Warrior Race Guy sub-humans) he has no interest in killing those who cannot defend themselves, finds children to be amusing distractions (being a natural Papa Wolf like Wolverine, especially since those feelings are usually returned), and is disgusted by those that kill the defenseless. He thus finds himself regularly rescuing loads and loads of people by accident despite never intending to.
That's often how I describe my vampiric characters; sadistic towards the wicked and noble to the just-- with the relativity of "just" and "wicked" depending on internal/external displays of the target character, or for said vamps, the Three Square Meals...and maybe prone to Deadpan Snarking at every possible moment, regardless of taste (i.e. LOTS of Dead Baby type jokes.)
