Description
Step oneDraw something in your room ( Or take a photo of something and trace it if your super lazy like I am here xD )Β
Step two
Turn on a light source and paint in the shadow/light area.
Step three
Move the light source and repeat
Step four
Add another light source if you want to be creative
Step five
you can also turn the object around and draw it from different sides without moving the light source. and get the same effect

is there a name for the lighting Β on the last one? with the cool light coming through like it's reflecting off something? i wanna call it back lighting but that's completely different
you see it all the time on things but i never really thought about incorporating it into my art

Have you ever heard of Portrait Studio ?
It's a great 3D program with a few quality human busts in it.
You can move the lighting around, pose the faces, and even add lighting sources!
You can also turn them to super low poly for optimum learning.
It's pretty awesome.

this is definitely something good to work on. i find i have the hardest time with smoother shaped objects' shadows and this would help immensely if i were to do some studies with smoother objects. thanks for posting this!! favorited as a reminder for when i stop being lazy and start doing drawing studies
