Description
I couldnt fall asleep, so instead I went for a walk into the frost cold morning taking pictures, and when I came back home I went out again and took some pictures of the spruce trees in my garden.Because apparently someone doesnt believe Spruces' branches can point downwards unless they are decaying or dead.
I dont know about you, but I didnt think decaying trees could survive 20+ years and more while they were decaying through hard winters, lots of wind, rain and sun.
The trees didnt even have to be that old to show signs of brances pointing down thanks to gravity and heavy wet snow for several months.
SOO I dont think so bro

Wow, seriously? You'd think they'd have enough common sense to at least google image search spruce trees and make sure they weren't wrong before attempting to argue. And why would they argue anyway? Such a stupid thing to be nit-picky about.... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're being nit-picky for arguing back, because I totally get defending yourself, I just don't get why they felt the need to say anything in the first place when they didn't even bother checking to make sure they were right first. Seriously I mean, I get that perfect, young, single spruce trees have branches that point upwards, but older ones and ones that grow close to other trees almost always have branches that droop.

haha yeah xD maybe they just like trying to prove people wrong. I know atleast that they werent right so I just proved that so she could atleast learn something they didnt know.
Theres also diffrent kinds of spruce species, some of the species has branches pointing down even at young age xD

There's even that awesome species whose branches always point downwards and they look very thin and scary like in some creepy forest. Actually, that's my favourites ^^

There's many different types of spruce trees. Black spruce have very weak branches, so they will often curve down as the tree gets older. =3

and btw for any people drawing birch trees, most of them are always ajoined with another at the base, and hardly ever alone as one birch

its sadly a widely spread believe that banches only point upwards. If this was true our forests would look pretty.. dull.

Oh, I never even thought that the branches of a spruce would point anywhere else than down, unless they were on top of the tree.. o.O
I always draw them that way too...
Well, I live in Finland, so the trees here have to endure snow as well as in Norway. xD
It looks like you live in a really nice area..

lol totally something i would do. My friend and i had this argument about dirt once. I stepped in some softish dirt that was totally NOT mud, but when I called it wet dirt she said that there was no such thing as wet dirt because it was all mud. but mud is completely different from wet dirt. wet dirt can hold its shape, mud is slippery and slimy.

There used to be a tree where I live that was fully inclined to one side, branches, trunk, leaves, all due to the action of the strong, one directional wind that blows there on a daily basis. My bro took this shot , but it's frontal, so it's not visible.
They teared it down for no reason :C It was the only tree in that area too, safe for the forest, but that lies on the other side of a highway. After that tree, it is only houses and concrete everywhere.
Anyways, under normal condition, trees grow straight up like a needle, but if weather conditions are strong and/or constant, the trees take various forms, such as inclining or growing to one side or the branches growing downwards.
Wherever said person lives, they must either live in a non-weather affected area where all trees are perfectly straight or they never saw a real tree before... Just guessing.
I really love that picture of the first tree you took, it looks gorgeous! I'm actually jealous that you have such a beautiful tree so close to your home~<3 *tree lover*

They always start by growing upwards, but which way they point after years of heavy snow and other strains is a different thing. I don't think the angle of the branches change much at all when they're dead or decaying. They might even point more upwards because the lack of water makes the tree less flexible.
Anyway, baby spruce
