Description When Italy wins soccer matches (hell, when Italy wins /anything/), Paolo transforms into a 6'4, 177 pound ball of unwanted affection. He pretty much runs around hugging/kissing/dancing with/yelling at/molesting whoever he runs into until he's too tired to move anymore, so it's best to just avoid him during the whole month of the world cup tournament. A lot of phantasms like soccer, and sneak into human households to watch matches on cable while the home owners are away. Emile's still pretty sore about the results of the final (he's French, so he should be), so this is really, really humiliating. Of course, getting playfully molested by your hated rival is horrible no matter what the circumstances.

Poor Emile.

(pen, sharpie, photoshop colors. And yes, Emile is that small compared to Paolo. 5'1 vs. 6'4. It's just funnier to have them be total opposites in every respect...soccer affiliations included.)

Hm, for some reason or another, it reminds me of when I purr for my girlfriends(friends that are girls mearly, guys don't really care that much about my cat impersonations). They tend to give me high pitched squees and hugs afterwards, ah the days. I'm so madly in amor with this entire storyline and genius art that is your comic/story/graphic novel/etc. It's so intricate and stylized and unique and I could really rant for months on how profoundly hooked I am but it's 3:10 am and I have bass tommorow and a rather horrid lack of eloquence at the present moment. I just had to express my captivated-ness(I swear it's a word...) in some shape form or fashion, despite the crude diction in which it was typed. My world moves once again :3

Haha! Oh dear...this is something Paolo can throw into Emile's face for a good while!
A purring Paolo...I bet that's a pretty disturbing image/sound.

Oh no...Paolo doesn't discriminate when it comes to molesting people when he's on a victory high. Emile is just a convenient victim.

Yeah, but the VERY first second I saw it I thought he was hugging him like some kind of partner XD Then I read the text and it all became clear.

haha, oh god....short of theiving partners, that would never, ever happen. Not even in some sort of twisted alternate universe. Their hatred for each other is just that deep.

Phantasms like soccer? So... Not demons right. Because I know demons, and they HATE soccer. To quote Nazgroth the Lesser, "Soccer's just a sport for people who can't throw."

Good to know, though

Speaking of God;
what religious system do the phantasms' have?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Grim-Amentia In reply to Zerix [2006-07-10 02:30:21 +0000 UTC]

haha, oh dear. This has always posed a tricky problem for me. Most phantams like the idea of a higher power with infinite love and compassion for even the ugliest (ie: phantasms) of its creations, but the more childish of phantasms are confounded by the intricate rituals and well...general popery (haha, best word ever)....that comprise most modern religions. They don't really understand what religion's really all about, and think it's just an excuse to dress up in funny outfits and make appeals to invisible beings with funny names. A few of my characters in particular tend to be pretty cynical about religion in general, such as Emile (surprise, surprise), but there are others who think otherwise. Since Jasper has a small obsession with human culture, he knows a little bit more than the average phantasm about mainstream relgion and likes the general idea of it all. (Of course, maybe if he read some history books he wouldn't be so enamored of them...) Dan thinks religion is interesting, but he approaches it in a more distant, scholarly sort of way, reading about it and turning it over in his own mind without dealing with any actual humans. There are also a few religious nutjobs who I'll introduce later who've taken the word of the Bible a bit too literally...fun, fun.

...As for myself, I'm Methodist, but I'd like to explore different points of view in my story.

Most phantasms use the word 'God' in their expressions because they've heard it used by the people they haunt and have adopted it into their own vernacular, hence Paolo here...If they practice a relgion, it's usually an unrecognizeable amalgam of many different philosophies crammed together.

Androidkitty In reply to Grim-Amentia [2006-07-10 04:07:32 +0000 UTC]

I had never heard of the phantasms (I wonder why?) so now you've given me something to google, haha. Not forgetting, of course, your wonderful description.
The reason it struck me as interesting is because you develop your characters with so much depth. Enough to give them religious preferences. I've seen journals where they have a character characteristics list (mainly anime) and yatta yatta... and always thought it was stupid. But I really like how you talk about your characters as if they really exist. Well, maybe not to that extent, but you get the point. Anyway just thought it was cool.
And as for the game I didn't really have a preference, either side was cool with me- but man was it entertaining. It's always funny to see rival fans' reactions, whether they be fictional or not!

Zerix In reply to Androidkitty [2006-07-10 21:15:16 +0000 UTC]

I agree, these characters are quite in-depth.
But they usually have to be when used in a piece of literary work.
Speaking of which; when do you plan to have this whole 'Phantasm' story finished by, Grim-Amentia?
