I added this because of my reference to the song "Supermassive Black Hole" by the band Muse. I like the song; sue me!

Anyway, onto the theory of the day, eh?

Today, I present to you the theory of our death by a giant black hole at the center of our universe.

Oh yeah, it's about to get real up in here.

Okay, so, there's this giant black hole at the center of our galaxy.

We think.

Well, they assume, you know. So assume along with me here, okay?

So, yeah, there's this giant black hole at the center of our galaxy, this giant one that exerts so much gravity that it affects everything in the galaxy. It is rotating extremely fast, and is in the shape of a flat disc.

Because of its flattened disc shape, its gravity is mostly centered in this one place on it, a thin plane that is called the galactic ecliptic.

Theory time!

Supposedly, this year, 2012, Earth is going to pass along the galactic ecliptic line and the gravitational pull on Earth will be dramatically increased, so much so that there will be mighty earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tidal flooding that will make Japan think the last one was the easy one.

Okay, sorry!

The "reasoning" behind this theory is that the winter solstice (DECEMBER 21st!) is when the sun at dawn, will be in a direct line between Earth and the galactic center (center of the Milky Way).

As such a time, it is theorized that Earth will be aligned with the black hole's center as well, and then, well, you know…..

BOOM!

Now, I'm not sure as I put much stock in this theory, as there's this little discrepancy that our solar system is 28,000 LIGHT-YEARS away from the center of our galaxy and there's not really anything that could affect the Earth from such a long distance away.

If you want more reasons as to why this theory is not sound and this will not happen on our favorite date, check out this very well written website:

alternate-healing-science-chri…

So there's a theory, but it's up to you whether you put any stock in it or not.

After all, we all know what happens when you assume, don't we?

Until the end of the year, live in fear!
