Description OH MY LORD I ACTUALLY MADE A BACKGROUND, IS THE END NEAR ?! *pretend not to notice that her buildings look terrible empty and lame*
Actually, yes. It is.

This is no random picture (for once) and  does illustrate one specific moment in my 3rd gen. Gotham. It's been a while since I have this weird idea of creating a crossover between Batman and the Lovecraftian mythology (some of you may have noticed I'm quite fond of it *coughs loudly*) Of course there were already hints in my previous fanfiction Tomorrow's Empire but few weeks ago, I decided to go further in the idea, including actual Outter Gods and Great Old Ones. I give you a bit of explanations :

First, there are things you should know about Irksalis. Long story short : his actual name is Ihioz-Ihamagn and he's way older than the Great Old Ones, but although he did travel through universes and has great powers, he isn't considered as an Outter God. Ihioz-Ihamagn (god that name is painful to write) is actually seen as a living anomaly inside the universe ; he created himself out of the void which is already a big deal and no Outter Gods, except for Yog Sothoth (the God who sees and knows all) noticed it for some time. Ihioz-Ihamagn then proceed to travel through time and space to settle on different planets, slowly absorbing their vital energy until he gets more powerful so he would be strong enough to face up to Outter Gods. Of course, they didn't like the idea of one mistake of the universe competing with them and he somehow he got trashed by Nyarlatothep. He managed to hide from the whole universe for some centuries until one day, he found out the way to incarnate himself on a specific planet, the Earth, by fooling human beings called "priests" who use the Necronomicon to summon deities. That's where Byron made a mistake ; he thought he had managed to call out a God where he only rolled out the red carpet for the universe's biggest singularity. But there's a big problem to Ihioz-Ihamagn ; the Earth is a land shared by many powerful divinities, Outter Gods (such as Nyarlatothep who likes trolling around and feared by Ihioz-Ihamagn) but also Great Old Ones (including Cthulhu, Dagon, Y'Golonac and others whose names are unpronounceable) It bothers Ih-Iha. who wants to keep Earth's ressources for his own self and thus, convinced some human beings to help him getting the Earth rid of Gods.

Ziggy and Thomas also became priests after they find the Necronomicon into their dead uncle's stuff. However the collaboration went bad and the twins quickly felt annoyed by Ihioz-Ihamagn. They quickly find out his real intentions about Earth and thus decided to go for the other "team". But you know how my twinies work : can't do something right if it isn't excessive and for some (stupid) reasons, ended up summoning Yog-Sothoth. And Yog-Sothoth doesn't like being woken up.

Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlatothep, Great Old Ones, Outter Gods etc (c) H.P. Lovecraft

that looks so damn menacing and ominous, like a pollution cloud, a storm and a lovecraftian monster had an very ugly offspring and it's now saying hello to its first meal.

That would be a pretty accurate description of Yog-Sothoth actually ! Though the whole thing is supposed to be glowing, but meh. I'll do another version later.

*sniffles* Well, it's good to be knowing you all!
Poor Gotham. First they had Ratpack to try to encapture the world so Its species could take over the world and inhabit it, and then three generations later, A LOVECRAFTIAN MONSTER APPEARS AND ALMOST EATS THE WHOLE THING UP!
D:
But damn, you are darn good at the perspective. Have we found the arsehole for the perspective yet ?
And the whole swirling monster is just perfect! How did you do the round lines though O.O? By hand or?

Goodbye Philadelphia ~ ! D:
Indeed. I still wonder why people are still willing to live here, like seriously after all the shit they went through, no one even has the idea to settle somewhere else in the goddamn' United States ?! I mean, the Ratpack-Day would have been way enough for me, thank you very much ! >.>  But Yog-Sothoth really is the icing on the cake. Not only he would destroy Gotham but the whole planet as well, including his offsprings ! Bad God.
Ihuuuuu thank you so much ;__;  Showed it to my dad, he was like "Hm. Welp. That looks okay to me." I wanted to throw him by the window for this  And no, I'm still looking for it, but I know that one day, I'll find it, like Indiana Jones would !
And yes ! I did the whole thing by hand and believe me or not, it made me want to cut my veins open at some point. =.=
Glad you like it tho, thank you

OOOH. I was intrigued anyway to begin with when it came to your Lovecraftian take on your Batman work, but now my interest is even MORE piqued. (I'm guessing Irksalis is a nickname that Irène probably gives to him out of annoyance at not being able to pronounce Ihioz-Ihamagn, and he just grew fond of it?) ;A; I miss Colin and seeing his relationship with Ihi-Iha. ;~;
"And Yog-Sothoth doesn't like being woken up." <---Is it bad that I read that and went "aw shit"? Because my husband's family is really fond of a tabletop boardgame based off of Lovecraftian lore, "Arkham Horror". And Yog-Sothoth is one of the worst bosses to wake up. (Depending on the randomized outcome of events, any of the Outter Gods or Great Old Ones can be woken and if that happens, the players have to fight them.) Yog-Sothoth might actually be the only one of the bosses we've never been able to win against, now I think about it. 8(

I know I may have sounded a little clumsy about it for some time, but the more I learn about Lovecraft's mythology, the more I want to do something out with it.  I'm not Lovecraft expert (far from it !) but I have the feeling that it would totally worth the try to mix the to Universes and perhaps even encourage one or two persons to learn more about the subject. (And you are absolutely right about it my dear ! Ihioz-Ihamagn as well as other gods' names are supposed to be unpronounceable for human beings, so somehow Irène got fed up with it and nicknamed him Irksalis, which did not bother the thing too much) Yeah me too ! I'm probably going to do more about them very soon ; heck they are the team that has worked best, it would be such a waste not to give their collaboration enough attention !
I didn't know about that bordgame at all and I must say I'm now very very curious about it ! What are the rules exactly ? And it does make plenty of sense to me ; as much as I know, Yog-Sothoth is one of the most powerful being/god of the whole universe. He's "the key and the guardian of the gate" meaning he can travell through dimensions. He's also omniscient and feared by other Gods. It's no wonder if the game's conceptor made him the most difficult boss !

There's nothing wrong with that, says I~. There's some pretty rich lore to pick up on by looking into Lovecraft's work! (It actually has some influence on DC's world of Thanagar and Thanagarian beliefs, which has only further prompted me to take notice and interest in it.) And hey, the original Arkham Asylum was an insane asylum utilized in Lovecraft's work, so it cannot be said that there isn't some Lovecraftian influence in the world and creation of Batman already!

(8D AHA!! I had a feeling that's how that nickname came about! And I figured that Ihi-Iha wouldn't mind, since he loves Irène in his own way.)

;w; I am excited to hear this. (I've actually been very tempted for a while to do something for you with him and Colin, but I've been rather hesitant. Mostly because I don't feel like I could do their characters justice in writing because I don't know them well enough to feel so comfortable with writing them. But the visual image of priest Colin and his overall white color scheme against Ihi-Iha's darker color scheme tempts me as a lovely visual contrast.)

Ooh, Arkham Horror? It was released a handful of years ago at a game convention. It's sort of an adventure-building game, but it's very dark, and it can take several hours to play completely through (especially since there are a ton of additional things you can buy to expand and enrich the game.) It's set in a Lovecraftian town where the players are trapped and the Outter Gods and their forces are starting to open up portals and swarm the town. Each player takes a character (ex: the librarian, who specializes in reading spellbooks; the orphan girl, who monsters tend to overlook... and that's just to name a couple. There is a near endless plethora of characters who all come with different stats, different strengths and weaknesses, and they provide different skills.) The players have to work cooperatively to try to seal portals and slay monsters as a timer (I think it's called the Fear Counter) counts down to when one of the Outter Gods/ Ancient Ones awakens. Depending on different things that might occur (or in some cases, NOT occur) in the game, you could get a relatively weak boss to fight when the Ancient One awakens, or you could end up facing something you stand little chance against, like Yog-Sothoth.
That's how I recognized his name; I'm not a huge fan of playing Arkham Horror (i love reading all the different lore and work they put into the game, but I hate playing games that might take several hours to finish,) but I've played it enough to remember Yog-Sothoth and know that the second he wakes up, everyone's in deep shit.

Hell, I didn't know about the Thanagarian beliefs either but that sure sounds curious to me ! And heck you are right about this. Sometimes it's as if those two universes were facing each others, but in an indirect way.
(That's right ! Plus it would have been painful for me to write Ihioz-Ihamagn each time I should mention him   Though I have no idea how Irène came up with the name "Irksalis"... I should work about it)

And holy damn you're right here ! Their collaboration does also work visually, though I had never paid attention before ! Actually, I would love to see you playing with around with them, but I do understand how hard this would be, considering how little I have said about them. I actually have a few drabbles on the way as well, I just need to pull myself together and finish writing it

I should try searching for the game ! I don't know if available in my country, but I would love to play it one day, though I understand how annoying long boardgames can be sometimes
That actually sounds a lot like a roleplaying game and I'm quite curious about the way the different characters have to fight against Outter Gods ! (I sure wouldn't like to face Nyarlatothep O.O)

^^~ *nods* I've got a weak spot for Thanagarians, that's how I found out. DC wasn't allowed to use any direct Lovecraftian terms for copyright reasons, but the Thanagarian deities are all directly based off of different Ancient Ones/Outter Gods, the more you look into it. Yeeeeessss, the potential for the crossovers are very real! And hey, DC is all about all their different parallel "Earths" having different themes and developing in drastically different ways! Who's to say no, that it's not possible? It's VERY possible one of the many "Earths" has a Lovecraftian theme to it!! So I say you're more than validated, hon!

(That I would definitely like to see! XD It sounds like it could be a funny little drabble to write!)

D8 Really?! Oooh... then I might just have to draw something to show the visual contrast of their collaboration! (And hey, maybe once you get those drabbles finished, then I could write something as well! I'm actually more than happy to try writing anything with a darker, intense, and more macabre twist to it!   )

You might be able to find someplace online to order the game!! I know that it's available on Amazon at least. It's rather expensive though, so you'd probably have to save up for it. D; I love a good boardgame, but when they take several hours to finish, I start to lose interest. Unless a lot is happening very, very fast, I'm not going to sit for over three hours playing one game.
It definitely has a lot of roleplaying game aspects to it, you're right! I'm sure there's probably a list somewhere of all the different Outter Gods and all the different player characters in the game. Might take me a bit to find it though. I tried to find it earlier but it didn't show up immediately in my search results.

the description you've given really helps with understanding this! And it's interesting to learn a little more of what you are planning with your character and such. It's brilliant and I totally approve! :'D Xx

Thank you my dear ! It's actually quite messy in my head right now but I'm slowly working on a storyline that would make as much sense as possible. It's veeery hard for now, but I really want to play more with all those disgusting lovecraftian thingies   Glad you like it tho ! <3
