Description

DC Comics Fan Art: from Weird War Tales the soldiers of Project M: The Creature Commandos

The Commandos surrounded by a company of hardened Wehrmacht soldiers, with the Oberleutnant ordering them to drop their weapons in almost perfect English. The Oberleutnant loudly explained that they were completely surrounded, out numbered, out-gunned and well-behind the Axis lines.

Lt. Matthew Shrieve (Human) answered in poorly accented, barely intelligible German, “You are exactly where we want you. Surrender immediately or be destroyed.”

Doctor Myrra Rhodes (Gorgon) later recalled that neither the Germans nor the Commandos laughed or otherwise responded to Lt. Shrieve's response. The Oberleutnant looked absolutely stunned for about half a second before Lt. Shrieve shot him in the face with his .45 pistol. Instantly Cpl. Griffith (Werewolf) launched into a one wolf blitzkrieg. Sgt. Velcro (Vampire) transformed into his bat form, clawing and biting almost as many Nazis bastards as the lycanthrope. Pvt. "Lucky" Taylor (Frankenstein's Monster) simply stood his ground, shielding the backs of Lt. Shrieve and herself, while unloading his BAR into the mass of men surrounding them. Pvt. Taylor was probably shot at least 20 or 30 times without noticeable effect. He did lose an eye and his left arm, again. These parts were replaced upon mission completion.

Lt. Matthew Shrieve's after-action report noted the following: Upon mission initiation, Unit location was compromised. It wasn't leaked on our end, so maybe [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE] Command needs to check it's [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE] security protocols. Upon being surround by a numerically superior armed force, Unit responded adequately and extracted itself from the location with minimal injuries. Note: Pvt. Taylor suffered minor injuries during enemy contact. Enemy causalities were extensive. Despite Command's complete [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE] inability to provide accurate local intelligence, Unit was able to locate, identify and neutralize the assigned target. Several additional Targets-of-Opportunity were also present which had not been included in the original [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE] briefing provided by Command. These additional Targets-of-Opportunity were also neutralized. As per usual, Unit extraction was [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE] because Command has it's head up it's [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE] and failed to coordinate properly with the Allied assets assigned to extract the Unit, again you lazy [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE], it's almost like you want us to be killed you [REDACTED: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE].
