Oh, Momiji - Please take me away~Looking back on this now. This is really making me feel bad, orz.
I want to go for a loli, joyful/fierce style; But all that comes out is this wretched semi-mature abomination I dislike strongly ;-;
It's only been 6 months since I started; But I have no motivation if my style is like this.

Aww this is cute. Danmaku with a smile. Also Momiji seems a bit more mature than some characters for some reason. Suwako is probably more loli than Momiji for instance.

Thanks, WF ^^
And I know what you mean; But I just wish I could make a more loli-style more often. I dislike the way my stuff turns out.

Well for loli style it almost depends on the character design as well. Momiji seems more mature with the warrior motif, and of an example of a mature looking woman would be Okuu, her appearance just begs to be drawn as a fully built woman.

Wow, time out man. Don't feel bad about it - it's looking nice, anatomy looks right and I really like how you did the head in general (DEM EARS HNNNG). Not to mention I see you're not afraid to experiment, and that's something that counts a lot in drawing. Have to say that you went farther in six months than I have in that time, so hey, everything is still out there for you. Keep rocking!
As for the style, well, not saying I'm an expert on the matter (still in the middle of defining my own), but what worked for me was listening to one guy's whose tutorials/show I watch advice - draw what you like to draw and it'll come to you naturally. Might seem a little vague, there's obviously more to that but as long as you've got the fire, it's what it boils down to.

I'm glad you think so then, and it does put a ton of relief back into me. I've been feeling so depressed this past night. Thanks for the encouragement, Scion. And I promise that one day I'll be knocking out superb pieces of art with my face looking just like your avatar
I just have an attraction to art like [link] and [link] Where everything is really clean and lovely; Unlike what I can toss out xD.
Though it does feel weird to think back on where I was and think there was a point where I was satisfied as hell with what I put out. I guess I'm just growing into more of an elitest and perfectionist, which hopefully I can stop that process.
But I definitely think I understand what you're talking about with that advice. I feel like I might have better luck if I stop trying to make my art look similar to other art styles and just focus on myself and how I draw, and what I want to draw at the time. I just hope that what comes is something I enjoy, honestly. I'm so sick of being depressed about this
Oh yeah; I forgot to mention. If you by any chance have or use Skype, you should add me. You seem like you'd make a really nice friend, and as such - I'd like to be your friend. ( Skype ID is Grimmkyu.)
Man, for some reason I feel like I'm talking completely differently/odd nowadays. Like my words have no structure or meaning anymore.

Heh, do like such pieces too. It's what really drives me, what you've linked are like the holy grail of drawing to me. All I know it's taking me ages to get anything to look moderately clean.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist myself, nothing bad about that as long as you think about it as your motor to get better.
About trying to make things look similiar - not saying don't do it, because it's a great learning tool. I actually started out by eyeballing pictures and trying to copy them as precise as I could (simple stuff from mangas). It's called building a 'visual library' (far as I know), and trust me, it works - the more you draw, the more you 'memorize' to use it in the future. Just stay away from plain tracing, cause almost nothing gets registered by that. Other than that, yeah - draw what you like is the best advice I've heard so far to get better.
I do use Skype, consider yourself added. And don't worry about talking odd, I do that too. Can bear with that.

Same; It really hurts sometimes to see the good pieces as much as they are inspiring that it could be me drawing that someday.
I just pulled out my tablet and am just doodling at the moment. Really unsure of what to do from here though. I fail a TON at the clarification stage of art :C
