Yay! I'm happy with how this came out . I love doing more gritty artwork! I spend a lot of time doing pretty artwork (which I love as well) but every now and then I love to draw stuff like this as well xD. It has been a while since I last colored rusted metal, so I was a bit nervous about doing it again...but it seems like all of that work on rust back at college really paid off xD. At least, I'm happy with the result here .

Oh, the title of this deviation is also a line from Mika's 'Any Other World' which I think suits poor Kurda perfectly xD.

This is definitely not a spoiler >.>....well, the Darren Shan books have been out forever, so if you haven't read them yet, I suggest you do it ;D.

This is my favorite character from the series, Kurda Smahlt. I've drawn him a few times before, but never really a proper picture x'D. HOPEFULLY this will be a commission example, but I'm worried it's gotten a bit too graphic to be one x'D...we'll see.

No, this isn't a picture for another instalment of 50 Shades of Gray x'D, it's based on something that happens in the...9th Darren Shan book?

It's been a while since I last read the series, but if I remember rightly, Kurda 'betrayed' the vampires by bringing the Vampaneze (an enemy race) into vampire mountain...plus he killed another vampire . Some stuff happens, *lazy explanation is lazy* and Darren ends up exposing Kurda's plan at this coronation to become a vampire prince, and so Kurda is put on trial an sentenced to death, where I believe he's put in a cage and dropped down on to a bunch of stakes on the ground below...grim stuff. It turns out that Kurda was actually only trying to help unite the two races, and by exposing him, Darren pretty much screws everyone over ...so....he DID betray his people, but he essentially did it to save them, so I still love him x'D. He has this great moment where he makes the death touch sign at Darren, smiles bitterly and says 'Even in death may you be triumphant'...since Darren has essentially condemned his race to death. Ooops...so I was inspired by that particular moment, and my Kurda's actual execution.

My apologies if the explanation is completely off...it really has been a while since I read the books .

Anyway!

Oh, I realize it's skew...I'll fix it when I'm not being lazy .
