It's tough to break away from a lifetime of character design images that are my stock-in-trade "stand there and look tough" pose. Trying desperately to be more creative on positions and action without biting too much from the posings that all my artistic heroes use. Nothing is worse than "wow you stole that from so-n-so" instead of "amazing, your work is reminiscent of the great artists like yadd-yadda..." soooooo that in itself is a work in progress sorta thing

And yeah, I agree that it is better to hear that the art looks similar to a style rather than saying the artwork or style is stolen from the creator.
