John Sourpuss, Egghead and Buddy stack up on top of each other to search high and low for that screwy rabbit. They suddenly came to a half when they saw the rabbit (proto-Bugs) teasing them. “Catch me if you can, silly hunters”, the rabbit said with a rural and goofy laugh. The rabbits jumps around and dances a little, as he bounces further away from the hunters. “Come on, men! Let’s get him!”, commanded John Sourpuss. When Buddy tries to run and chase the rabbit, the three hunters collapse and fell on top of each other. This resulted in each of them seeing stars simultaneously, knowing that they should be careful next time when they’re stacked all together.

Proto-Bugs yes, but the archaeo-Bugs was white.
Egghead and Buddy were early Warners. Egghead was a proto-Elmer Fudd, and Buddy vanished with no offshoot. (I recall seeing on Tv Buddy turning the strict SingSong Prison into a vacation resort. )
I recall no John Sourpuss ,but I imagine you do !
At the very beginning was Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid. (Warner's first sound cartoon, a demo of cartooning technology).
According to a brilliant fan-fic, FAMILY , Bosko's smarter but less handsome brother was an ancestor of the Warner kids. FAMILY, however, was never finished tho it made its point. Ask me more.
