It's been ages since I last drew mythical creatures
But I think the bg looks "plain", any suggestions?

If you have a facebook account, search for the "Elven Blood" application. There's an Item there called "Leviathan" that uses the same picture that you have. I checked it today

well, since Leviathan is the demon lord of the sin "Envy," how about some shape-shifting sea creature? OR, you could draw him attacking some poor, defense-less ship in a fury of white foam and splinters.

As far as the background goes, I think some bioluminescent organisms would show the sheer size of the subject. The fact that the upper portion of the creature is in the streaming sunlight while the lower parts descend into an eerie starscape would give an immense sense of scale. And I would also recommend using more types of flora, and have them diminish in frequency as the light wanes. And the rockfaces could be craggier and more defined. It is a common misconception that underwater things are worn smooth, but that only makes sense if the object in question is in the path of an active and continuous current, like in a river. But as far as the leviathan itself, it is everything one could hope it to be.
