Description The first sin:disobedience...

photomanip of ink drawings...

The serpent tells the woman that she will not die if she eats the fruit of the tree: "When you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."So the woman eats, and gives to the man who also eats. "Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons." The man and woman hide themselves from God, the man blaming the woman for giving him the fruit, and the woman blaming the serpent. God curses the serpent, "upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life;" the woman he punishes with pain in childbirth, and with subordination to man: "your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you;" and Adam he punishes with a life of toil: "In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground." The man names his wife Eve, "because she was the mother of all living."

"Behold," says God, "the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil." God expels the couple from Eden, "lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever;" the gate of Eden is sealed by cherubim and a flaming sword "to guard the way to the tree of life."

It's remarkable how notwithstanding the busy aspect of the overall arrangement... what's being conveyed is so clear-cut that it's not lost in the hectic, energetic surroundings... a powerful feat.

Excellent work as usual, my friend, but I have several problems with the fable of Adam & Eve.

If God is omniscient, then he KNEW that Adam & Eve would disobey Him BEFORE he created them. If God is omnipresent, then he was present when they ate the fruit of the tree, wasn't He?

Now what bothers me is this; God gave Adam & Eve the will to choose between either good or evil, right? However, being omniscient He knew beforehand what their choice would be, in fact, he created them knowing what that choice would be, so they were either acting only according to His will or He created flawed creatures.

If you'd like to use the analogy of God as a loving father, tell me please what loving father would set a plate of cookies in front of a hungry child (with a sweet tooth) and tell that child, "If you even take a small bite out of one cookie, I wish banish you from my sight forever!" Even worse, what father would take that stance KNOWING that his child (through his own desires and the temptation placed before him) would "fail?"

And please tell me how the freedom to choose between one thing and another is a "gift" if you are punished for making your choice? This whole story is a concoction of man as no one was actually present to witness man attaining "realization," and it's the perfect means for man to rationalize his domination over women, "the woman he punishes with pain in childbirth, and with subordination to man: "your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you;"

We can later discuss the notion that a good portion of mankind is the result of Cain's incestuous relationship with Eve, his mother.

Idon't understand if you can see this why can't others see this also if ngles are so powerful why they had to have a sword to gard the way to the tree of life against a mer man. Why did Eden have a gate this tells us that the way. to life ever after is through Eden.To ADAM EVE bore Cain and to his brother she bore Abel ho was Adams brother, and where Cain and Abel born babys if so they had to be rasied. Sense Cain had the hardest job i.am sure he thought God would take this in concderation but he didn,t seem like envey was being put between God and Cain not Able and Cain.Just some things I ask some time do they see what I SEE.smoke1748@yahoo.com
