The primer is an automotive primer, that is getting very hard to come by as it is being phased out. You can find other primers at any good auto finsih supply store. There are a few coats but the best thing about this type of primer is you can lay down very thin smooth coats. Yes I sand between each coat as I use the primer to find the flaws and fill in scratches. Hope this helps.

Thank you, the dome was vacumn formed(it took 8 times to get a decent part) As for my plans, well the sculpt is based on original artwork by an awesome artist, Guy Francis, you can see his work here:www.guyfrancis.com I would like to make a mold and send him a copy but that is probably the extent, the original idea was a personal project for my portfolio.

Sorry, I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but I seem to be a little challenged in finding information today ... what medium is this? It's fantastic!

Thank you the sub is carved form urethane foam, the captain was sculpted with Super Sculpey and various other bits were made from styrene and brass.

Cool ... which is the easiest to work with? I've been thinking about trying to do more sculpting, but I'm currently using grey clay or white airdry clay, but it's not really giving me the sculptability that I need.

I use either Super Sculpey Firm or Chavant NSP I like both but use each for diff kinds of sculpting.

Sweet, thanks. I might poke you for advice when I start (but don't worry, it'll be a while, I'm moving in 5 or 6 months, don't think I'll have time before then )
