I look at him. “Lonely? But your crew-”
“Respect me, yes. Fear me, more so than before. But they are alive. They cannot understand the pain, the sorrow, the misery of being deceased! No longer being able to enjoy a decent meal, no longer feeling the wind and the sun on your face...”
I flinch at the word. He’s right. I understand him completely. But I say nothing and look away.
“Craving for acceptance amongst mortals; living in fear of crossing over; of... exorcism!”
Memories of my first days as a ghost start to come back to me. The pain of realising that I am no longer alive; the unhappy days of knowing my loved ones will never see me again...I feel myself on the brink of tears.

“But what’s this? Tears?” He hands me a handkerchief, which I accept. “Then you do understand. You’re still a delicate creature of emotion! And that’s why I had my crew bring you here, my dear.” He uses the deadly hook to lift my face up towards his. The implement is horribly cold, even for me.

I'm not going to lie to you: I think I fancy Hook. He's probably a very close second (if not, tied) to Hades and Sexy Drac. Though he does make a pretty scary ghost.
