It's a must!

Model: Me.
Photo: Me.
Post. Pros: Me.
Taken: July 14th 2015.

This was an un-planned portrait that
I am happy I decided to take I know,
I haven't taken any self portraits in SO long
and I am very sorry about that. I promise to try.

I really hope you all dig this!
(explain why, just don't say "dig" or "I dig.")

Wow, the lighting here is just amazing. Love how subtle it looks, like this twilight time, when it's not night yet, but not day anymore either. And the face expression fits very well with it.

I always appreciate when someone takes proper effort to make a good self-portrait (as opposed to bathroom smartphone selfies). This one is a very good one.

Thank you so, so much!! The photo was taken with the last
bit of sunlight left of the day. So you are correct with what it looks like

Thanks a lot I used to take proper self portraits all the time, I fell out
of the wanting to do it. I miss it though. It was therapeutic in a way. And I
agree, bathroom selfies are all over the place. I respect real self portraits too

You're very welcome. Must have been hard to set everything on such lighting, even with a big aperture. Did you have some kind of preview of how it would look like or did you shoot blindly?

I guess there would always be a difference between "taking pictures" and "making pictures". One needs a mind behind a button.

Actually it was pretty easy, I had to fuss with the settings a bit
but once that was done, I got the desired shot in about 3-5 tries.
I digital camera, so its never shooting blindly. So I am not sure how to fully answer.

Well with a DSLR one needs to connect the camera to a computer to see what one is shooting. If you don't do that, you can just use the "shoot after 10s" mode and shoot "blindly" without seeing what one shoots. That's what I meant.

Still confused but I am pretty sure I shoot blindly, on everything.

again you've managed to use selective shadows to make something really really special. this feels softer and quieter than the last one i remember, and i don't see how you could be wearing anything else that suits it better, or posed more effectively. the lighting even makes it hard to tell if you have makeup on or not, which adds to the general soft and late evening feeling i get from this. i do notice your other work, but i've always felt their quality spoke for themselves and your portraits seemed to be the new thing you were trying.

as with the last several, this is really really special, and it seems you're getting the hang of it nicely.

Thank you so, so much!! I wanted this portrait to be a bit hard to
read but while still remaining with a soft feeling to the portrait
Nope, self portraits are not some new thing I am trying out- its
actually something that started my work and I don't do much anymore.
Now, its rare for me to take self portraits. Watchers who have been
watching me for the past 4-5 years saw tons of Self Portraits, the last
3 years I have taken less and less. Just due to me being more interested
in other models then myself as one. Which makes people mad, that I
don't take more but my work works on inspiration and mood
Please, look in my gallery for all my past works, I am not new to the rodeo.

I dig it because you look very pensive and calm. Also the shadows running along the background, which I presume are a chain of switched-off fairy lights, make it look like you're in a safe environment. The blue light is peaceful.
