You've got to tell me the story about the high-tech gag/collar combo?
Gag talk translator? English/ Romulan translator? Standard alien discomfort/incentive device? Voluntary motor control override? (Hence the hand held unit held by the Romulan nomaid?)
I'll need to know these things for future reference.
I also notice the gag-thingee comes with a matching set of hand cuffs. What's the story there?
I'm digging the shoulder straps. They look nice and tight and in addition, they're in a nice original binding arrangement. I'd be curious to see what you had in mund to hobble our heroine.
The last thing I was expecting was a fresh take on Uhura's perils. I salute yew sah.

The tech behind the mouth and wrist binders is probably the same thinking behind the tech on the original show: Make something that looks techie.
But if you're going to FORCE me to actually think . . .
The gag unit has several functions in addition to silencing a prisoner. There is a GPS tracker, in case the prisoner escapes. There's an anesthetic that can be applied to subdue rebellion. There's an electroshock feature also, being Romulan made. And finally there's a small explosive charge, in case the prisoner either proves to be of no value or pisses off the ship Commander.
As for the manacles, they're just magnetically coupled and programmed to loosed upon a broadcast command, or tighten in response to undue struggling.
