Description
The opinion has been expressed that the recent redesign of Sally Acorn in the Sonic comic is -- less than desirable. And that Archie Comics has been a little heavy-handed in instituting the redesign. And that got me to drawing.Be careful, Tails. You could be next.
This drawing is particularly for Shadz-The-Fox. He'll get it.

The only two things I REALLY HATE about Sally's redesign are the hair style and her muzzle; everything else is fine, so long as her personality remains the same from the SatAM TV Series......But then again, that's just me

I have less of a gripe about the redesign and more the Second Genesis Wave reboot itself smh hot garbage
and all because Sega didn't want to pay royalties for an idea they ripped off

I personaly find sally's new design a lot Better than her old one. I mean, not in "its offensive" bullshit, but I found her original design quite simplistic and even too simplistic. I think the redesign to a more believable choice of clothing was nice and made her look a bit cooler.

I think her redesign is okay, and I like that her bracelets can be used for creating energy blades. The idea of a squirrel/chipmunk hybrid running around wearing nothing but a vest and boots would catch the eyes of the censors, and then "Look out, world."

Her redesign sucks and so does Archie, Ian Flyn, and Sega! Nothing but a butchered hacked up ugly ass abortion. She doesn't even look like Sally anymore.

That's going to get nitpicky even for others which it was equivalent of redesigning mario and the others that doesn't look like the video game counterpart at all (except the luigi in the gangster look which it was used not only on the internet but also being used in the comics somewhat) that's so dang stupid i'm sorry but i just being really disappointed to the fact that it was supposed to be sensical, referenced and being a sequel i mean it's a sonic the hedgehog archie freaking comics we are talking about here i mean i would suggest that they could just scrap that new design cause i don't hate it just disapproving i'll admit i liked it for a little.

Personally, I don't mind the new design for Sally. I know many won't agree with me, but redesigns can change things for good.
I personally think of redesigns like the Joker from Batman - he's recently been redesigned as a maniac who had his face skin cut off and reapplies it on his face using twine and a belt. This made the Batman series darker, like it should be.
I may have used an example that wouldn't interest many people, but all I'm saying is, redesigns can be good.

Redesigns can be good. I'm not opposed to Sally's redesign, although I prefer the old Sally. Some folks are and I was just reflecting that for the sake of the gag.
I hadn't heard of the stuff with The Joker, as I don't follow DC anymore. There are lines that you don't cross unless you're ready for the consequences and I don't think DC really thought that one through.

I agree, there ARE lines that people shouldn't cross. Sally's redesign isn't that line, I feel - in fact, it feels like the right time for a change. After 20-odd years of the same design, bar different hairstyles, a change is just what the doctor ordered.
With the case of the Joker...well, it sort of fits his personality. He's trying to prove a point to Batman - but I don't see why cutting off his face will help.
God help the man who can think like him.

It's not terrible (though that depends on the artist), once you get past the notion of animals wearing clothing at all, I suppose.

The redesign seems to be trying to get Sally and the rest of the SatAM cast looking a bit more like the Sega originals. So Sally has to wear clothes like the Sega girls. A few of the other characters have been moving towards that direction for a while now and newer characters are a lot more in the Sega mold.
I don't the clothes, I guess, but Sally's new design seems really awkward to me; I've seen fanart here on dA that's presented a better "Sega style," Sally. The big feet and gloved hands are best left to Sonic and the like.
Anyway this is a nice sendoff for the classic look.

GrouchoM In reply to DLShowtime [2012-12-11 22:50:18 +0000 UTC]
I kind of wondered if it was Archie's idea or Sega's. And I suppose the "awkwardness" of the look depends on the skill of the artist. I've seen bad versions and I've seen versions that aren't too bad. Like to see what Pat Spaziante does with this new design.
