Description By far one of the most colorful birds in the world and I am lucky enough to have them in my back yard!!! This Painted Bunting was one of 7 I had in my yard in at the same time. But I have yet to get them in the same frame at the same time. This weekend my feeders were very busy.

"Wish we had these beauties here in NJ." Was just going to say that. We should breed them and let them go, then maybe they'll be a transplant.

Beautiful shot! Love how the lovely colors on the bird contrast with the bright green leaves. There's actually a Native American legend that says that when coloring all the animals, the Great Spirit used dyes he made himself. But when he came to the Painted Bunting, he had only a little of each dye left, and put them all on the bird, hence the mixes of purple, scarlet, green, yellow, blue, etc

...my useless fact of the day #..i cant even remember...XP

I still struggle to come to terms with the fact that these birds are real and that the photos I see of them are not edited. These guys are colourful and beautiful beyond belief, truly stunning, what a shot!

Thank you! Yeah I agree. I can't believe that they are real as well. Especially that they are in my back yard! I look forward to seeing them again next winter.

Thank you! Yeah you never know where strays may appear. A few weeks ago a friend of mine found a Vermilion Flycatcher, which means that little bird flew across the Gulf of Mexico to the Eastern Central Florida! So you never know!

Your next mission: Get all seven birds in one frame. The first one showing off its red breast, the second one showing off its orange nape, the third one showing off its yellow back, the fourth one showing off its green primaries...
