Tribute drawing for Monty Oum. You have been an amazing inspiration for me and many others. I have read many articles and posts about how Monty has affected many people's lives, especially artists. Everyone who has mentioned Monty said they have motivated them to keep pushing their limits and trying. I have stalled on using water colours for a very long time and I figured now was the time. Now was the time to get out of my comfort zone and push my limits to see what I could do. Thank you Monty, I will always remember you and I will keep trying to improve myself!

The Red trailer for me was very awe inspiring. The intro with the moon, petals and music sent chills down my spine and I was glued to my laptop screen for the duration of the trailer. I felt the theme for my drawing should be something from that trailer. I used three pages to get to the final product. The first was a speed paint where I just testing colours and how things looked with layers and different techniques. The second drawing was a test run. First time using the water colours. Surprisingly, the skin turned out perfect and I do not know how I did it (LOL). As I continued through the drawing I learned from those mistakes and transferred what I had learned to the final product you see posted here. I had a lot of fun working with this. Using a new median felt fresh and I learned a lot. I love how the eyes and hair turned out. I feel the hood is a little too saturated.... orz I spent SO LONG fixing it that the paper was water logged in that one spot.... the paper warped decently so I left the hood as is. For the final product I used paynes grey for the dress (spent 10 dollars on that damn small ass tube but the colour turned out perfectly). I'm really happy with the snow and ecstatic about the rose petals. Having a trail lead up to Ruby really completes this drawing. I feel the branches could have been better. They are above her but in the drawing they look more in the background than they should. I didnt want them to be overbearing but they could have turned out better. Overall, an amazing experience and I plan to do more water colour drawings.

Once again Monty, thank you. I have lit a fire in me and many others.
