Oh Good Lord that thing is freaking nightmare fuel right there!!! I'd hate to face against that thing in a campaign as it'd be the thing that'd wipe a team in an instant!!!

Yeah, I find it's best not to worry too much about that. The Xorn is from the edition of D&D that came out in the late 70's, which probably influenced the Halo guys when they were designing the flood, which then influenced me as I was redesigning the Xorn today!
